All of the players listed as questionable on the teams injury report are active for today's game https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Marcedes-Lewis-Jersey , a group that includes several starters. Joining him in the lineup on defense is cornerback Kevin King, who missed practice this week with a groin injury. Also active is right tackle Bryan Bulaga, who missed th e second half of last week's loss to the Eagles. PACKERS INACTIVES- WR Davante Adams- CB Tony Brown- OL Cole Madison- OL Adam Pankey- RB Dexter Williams- RB Jamaal Williams- OLB Tim Williams Matt LaFleur hasn’t coached his first NFL game yet.But he already knows how to turn an injury report into an object lesson.Via Jim Owczarski of the , the Packers coach turned his own blown Achilles from a basketball game last week into something with a moral.“We’re all going to face a little bit of adversity,” LaFleur said. “You can’t let it hold us back. So that’s just kind of like my mindset https://www.thepackersfanshop.com , you know? It is what it is and you make the best out of whatever situation comes.”LaFleur is having surgery today, and will be coaching from a cart through the rest of OTAs and minicamp. He was able to throw the first pitch in a charity softball game last night, while wearing a walking boot. The 39-year-old head coach said he knew immediately the injury was a significant one.“A couple weeks ago I kind of tweaked my calf on the other side,” he said. “But this one, I knew immediately. It was way more forceful. I thought somebody hit me in the leg. I looked around and nobody’s by me. It’s just one of those deals. We’ll rebound. We’ll be back.”Wide receiver Davante Adams said he couldn’t see anything different in LaFleur’s approach during practice, despite the fact he wasn’t on his own two feet.“He was out there on his golf cart the other day so he was still pretty mobile Green Bay Packers Customized Jerseys ,” Adams said. “He was still rolling up next to me and coaching up and doing the same things. I don’t think it’s really going to stop him too much from the way he kind of does things. He’s always around. And it’s a good thing. It’s a good way to get a feel for the type of guy he is.“It obviously shows how much the game means to him and with being an offense that he’s really comfortable with and been in for a while, he sees it a certain way. He sees it, so it’s not always, he’ll come up to me saying ‘I need you to run this better’ but asking me how I feel about things and just interacting and stuff like that. I see it being pretty consistent.”And he’s not going to let a basketball injury stop him.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Luck is indeed “ready to roll” this week.Luck’s shoulder was a big storyline for the Colts heading into last season, but the calf injury never rose to the same level of concern. That’s a plus for all involved with the Colts’ bid for a second straight trip to the postseason. Not surprisingly, fewer fans are going to games in person. a touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals https://www.theseahawksfanshop.com , his 35th of the year. That set a new franchise record, surpassing his own mark of 34, which he hit in 2015 and 2017. Wilson also threw an interception against the Cardinals, but it was only his seventh all year. The Seahawks went on to win 27-24, clinching them a 10-6 record and the 5-seed in the NFC playoffs. They will face the Dallas Cowboys next weekend.Seattle’s win was the 75th of Wilson’s career, which is three more than any other QB in NFL history through seven seasons. He’s one of only three QBs in history to start all 112 games through seven years, joining Peyton Manning and Joe Flacco. If the Seahawks managed to pull off the remarkable feat of winning the Super Bowl, Wilson would have more postseason wins than any other QB in NFL history through seven seasons, assuming he remains healthyWilson has the highest passer rating of any QB through seven seasons with a minimum of 70 starts. He is third all-time in TD passes through seven seasons, behind Dan Marino and Manning. He’s good. Deebo Samuel has emerged as a go-to receiver for the San Francisco 49ers at just the right time.Samuel has shaken off a slow start to his rookie season by elevating his game the past two weeks when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been mostly without his top two targets Seahawks Customized Color Rush Jerseys , with tight end George Kittle sidelined by injuries and Emmanuel Sanders limited by injured ribs. With 16 catches for 246 yards over the past two weeks, Samuel is proving why the Niners made him the third receiver selected in April's draft.“He's fearless," teammate Richard Sherman said. "Deebo Samuel is fearless. He'll run through any catch. You get some receivers running across the middle and they're looking for who's going to him them. Deebo is looking for who he's going to hit. That's a much different mentality than most people."That toughness was a big reason why the Niners were so excited to get Samuel in the draft, with general manager John Lynch saying he had the mentality of a running back rather than a receiver. That has been evident so far this year as no receiver with more than 50 targets has averaged more yards after the catch than Samuel's 7.3 this season, according to SportsInfo Solutions."It is just a mentality I always played with growing up," Samuel said. "The mentality that not one guy is going to bring me down."Samuel took a little bit of time to find his game this year but now leads all rookies with 38 catches on the season and ranks fourth with 473 yards receiving.Samuel had five catches just once in San Francisco's first eight games and only topped 50 yards once as well, recording five catches for 86 yards in Week 2 against Cincinnati. But that all started to change two weeks ago against the Seahawks, when Samuel was given a much bigger role with Kittle sidelined by injuries to his knee and ankle and Sanders knocked out of the game early with the rib injury.Sanders had eight catches for 112 yards in that overtime loss and then followed up the next week against Arizona with eight catches for 134 yards as Kittle once again was sidelined and Sanders limited.Samuel became the first 49ers rookie since the merger to post back-to-back 100-yard receiving games. He joined Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens and Dwight Clark as the only San Francisco wideouts since the merger to have two straight games with at least eight catches and 100 yards.“The game has not been too big for Deebo at all," coach Kyle Shanahan said. "He's had to learn a lot on the run through each game Seattle Seahawks T-Shirts , just the stamina it takes to play throughout an NFL game, how different those 65 plays are in the NFL compared to usually those 90 in college just down in and down out. Deebo gets better each week, he studies his game plan as hard as anyone in our building and I think he just gets more confidence with the more opportunities he gets. Just the physicality he's played with has been a lot for us to rely on, especially for a rookie throughout this time."Samuel is quickly earning the trust of his quarterback as well, for the toughness he showed in coming back from a shoulder injury sustained on a circus catch by the sideline and his ability to make plays consistently. He missed practice with the shoulder injury Wednesday, but the team is hopeful he will be able to play this week against Green Bay."He's one of those guys you love to have in your foxhole," Garoppolo said. "He just gets banged up out there, keeps coming back, doesn't even question it or anything. He's a fighter, man. You love having guys like that on your team."NOTES: Kittle (knee https://www.theseahawksfanshop.com/hats , ankle), Sanders (ribs), RB Matt Breida (ankle), DE Dee Ford (quadriceps, hamstring), K Robbie Gould (right quadriceps), T Joe Staley (finger) all missed practice Wednesday. ... DT D.J. Jones (groin) and RB Raheem Mostert (knee) were limited. ... LB Azeez Al-Shaair (concussion) was a full participant in practice after missing last week’s game.

JK Scott Jersey , and they could get even more in the draft at the end of the month. The Green Bay Packers need a plan at slot receiver. While pretty much every other starting job on the roster is settled, what the Packers do in the slot will be a fascinating saga to watch over the course of spring workouts and training camp.Plenty of players already on the team could contribute there. Each of the Packers’ top four receivers — Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Equanimeous St. Brown — have experience in the slot. Jake Kumerow does as well. Add in tight end Jimmy Graham, who is less of a blocker and more of a big slot receiver anyway, and you have lots of big players to contribute. In addition, the 2019 NFL Draft provides some exciting options. One player we’ll learn about shortly has a diminutive frame, but exceptional athletic ability. Numerous other options like Ohio State’s Parris Campbell, Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown, and others could also come into play early on the second day of the draft. In short, there are already no shortage of options; the question now is what head coach Matt LaFleur and his staff choose to do once the season rolls around.Packers keeping their options open in the slot | Packers.comWith Randall Cobb gone, the Packers are looking inside and outside the organization for players who can get separation from the inside of the formation. Nobody is harder on him than himself. But the rookie outside linebacker is trying to not allow that to get the best of him as he figures his way in Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s defense.“I’m just trying to understand that if I mess up in practice, I still have a couple more team periods to erase it,” Gary said on Friday after Green Bay’s second practice of training camp. “But I’m always hard on myself. I’m the hardest person when it comes to breaking down my own film. But it’s a learning process. I know I’m at the point where I’m able to do certain things I know I need to do. I know I can execute.”Gary’s locker is nestled between outside linebackers Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith. Gary said he’s just trying to soak up as much knowledge as he can from the two veterans.“Those two guys are just molding me,” Gary said. “Everything they’re doing, I’m following in their footsteps.”Green Bay acquired the two Smiths in March to bolster its pass-rush personnel. The Packers drafted Gary the following month with the 12th overall pick to do the same. With the release of former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Mike Daniels earlier this week Josh Jones Jersey , Gary could be asked to do more. The two-time first-team All-Big Ten performer at Michigan said that’s not a problem.“If coach wants me to play the 3 (technique), then I’m going to go rush at the 3,” he said. “If you want me to stay outside, keep rushing outside, that’s what I’m about to do. Day by day, I’ve just been working on perfecting my craft and becoming the best I can for this team.”Gary’s listed as an outside linebacker but played both defensive end and defensive tackle while at Michigan. When asked what position he prefers, Gary kept it simple: “I’m an athlete. I don’t know how else to put it. I feel like whatever the coach wants me to do, I could do it.”Preston Smith, a fifth-year veteran who played his first four seasons in Washington, said he’s never seen a player at Gary’s height and weight that also has his athleticism. The 6-foot-5, 277-pound Gary ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, the fastest by any defensive lineman in this year’s event.“He’s a good kid,” Preston said. “He has his head on right. He’s always willing to come in and learn. He loves to compete. He always wants to get better. … Being a young kid Montravius Adams Jersey , I just try to tell him, ‘Man, don’t let it get to your head,’ because sometimes he thinks he’s not doing as good as he knows he can.“I have to tell him, ‘You’re still doing good, man. Just watch the film and improve on it and try to polish up certain areas of your game.'”The priority for Gary is just to learn. Learn as much as he can as quickly as he can. Gary said he has already picked up from Aaron Rodgers that he’s tipping some of his coverages. Gary said he’s talked with Rodgers about how to better disguise his plans on the field.Gary and the Packers’ first preseason test will come Aug. 8 at Lambeau Field against the Texans. The two teams will hold joint practices Aug. 5-6 in Green Bay. Gary said he will be keeping a close eye on three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt.“When it comes to people that are taking over the game — from rushing the passer to setting the edge and playing the run — having a guy like J.J. Watt come down, a guy I look at and watch his film, I can’t wait to watch him. It’s going to be a good thing. But I’m going to watch from a distance and make sure I take my notes on him.”Notes: S Darnell Savage (teeth), CB Josh Jackson (foot) and K Mason Crosby (calf) missed their second straight practice of training camp. … LB Kendall Donnerson left with a hamstring injury. … The Packers signed RB Corey Grant and DL Olive Sagapolu and released DL Eric Cotton. Grant was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played under now Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Nick Mullens got several hundred congratulatory text messages, a phone call from Brett Favre and his Twitter account verified.Delivering the most productive game by a quarterback in his NFL debut since the merger leads to many accolades.Mullens threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns and the San Francisco 49ers thoroughly dominated the Battle of the Bay, beating the Oakland Raiders 34-3 on Thursday night. The former undrafted free agent out of Favre's alma mater Southern Mississippi finished 16 for 22 in place of the injured C.J. Beathard and had a 151.9 passer rating Super Bowl Dru Samia Jersey , the highest for a quarterback with at least 15 attempts in an NFL debut since the 1970 merger."I think I'm here for a reason. This is my opportunity to prove that I can play," Mullens said. "Today's thing was just attack your job and worry about what matters. What mattered most tonight was the team and how we played."The Niners (2-7) couldn't have played much better in snapping a six-game losing streak and winning for just the second time in two years without Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback.Mullens threw TD passes to Pierre Garcon and Kendrick Bourne on the opening two drives and connected on a 71-yard one-handed catch-and-run play to George Kittle to set up a third TD pass to Kittle. Raheem Mostert added a 52-yard TD run and the defense generated eight sacks for the first time since 2009.But the story of the game was Mullens, got rid of the ball quickly and took advantages of several breakdowns in coverage for big plays, including the 24-yard TD pass to a wide-open Garcon on the opening drive."It was cool that he didn't change under the big lights and these circumstances," cornerback Richard Sherman said. "We're not really surprised. We've seen him do it in practice. He plays with a lot of confidence."With Garoppolo out for the season and Beathard having lost nine of 10 career starts, the inevitable question will be whether Mullens will take over as starter for the next game Nov. 12 against the New York Giants."We'll definitely consider it," coach Kyle Shanahan said. "I'm definitely not thinking about it right now. Our whole team played very well. They definitely did."The Raiders (1-7) clearly didn't, losing for the fourth straight time, getting outscored by 85 points during the skid."I know it's not looking pretty right now Dru Samia Jersey nfl draft ," coach Jon Gruden said. "I've heard a lot of negativity over the last six, seven months and rightfully so. But we're going to build a championship football team here."In what was perhaps the worst prime-time matchup in NFL history, only the Raiders played down to expectations. They provided little resistance on defense against an undrafted quarterback making his NFL debut, did nothing offensively after driving for as field goal on the opening drive and put together the most listless performance yet in Gruden's second stint as coach.Carr finished 16 for 22 for 171 yards and was sacked seven times before being replaced by AJ McCarron in the fourth quarter. McCarron was sacked once behind a banged-up offensive line."It's a frustrating thing to be sitting on the record you have, be going through some of the things we're going through as an offense and still not being able to put points on the board," tight end Jared Cook said. "It's definitely frustrating because we know the talent we have in this room is way better than that and way better than what we portray on the field."UNDER PRESSURECarr was sacked four times in the first half for the first time in his career as the Raiders struggled to provide much protection against a 49ers defense that has not generated much pressure all year. Dekoda Watson had 1 1/2 sacks in his first game of the season after getting activated from IR earlier in the day.RING CEREMONYFormer Niners receiver Terrell Owens was presented his Hall of Fame ring at a halftime ceremony. Owens was voted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year but skipped the induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio, to hold his own celebration at his college in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Owens said he was upset at the voters who made him wait three years for the honor Ben Gedeon Jersey , saying he believed they brought in off-field issues into their deliberations instead of focusing solely on what Owens did as a player."This is awesome," Owens said before the game. "This is an opportunity to give something to the fans. Ever since I left in 2003 and went on and did some great things, but this is where it started my first eight years of my career."INJURIESRaiders left tackle Kolton Miller left with a knee injury. ... Good morning White Leonard Williams Jerseys , Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. The Jets and Kelechi Osmele are in a pretty big stand-off regarding a shoulder injury that the team thinks he sustained prior to signing this off-season. Kelechi and his agent have disagreed, and have gone as far to say that the Jets have been sending blank MRI’s out to contradict Osemele’s statements. And according to multiple sources, the Jets have actually apologized and admitted it being true Leonard Williams Jerseys 2019 , which is absolutely ridiculous of them. Taylor Bertolet has handled all of the kicking duties in New York’s first two preseason games because Cairo Santos, a free-agent signing, is still recovering from a groin injury suffered last season.Myers was signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent out of Marist in 2015. He has converted 64 of 79 field-goal attempts Jamison Crowder Jerseys 2019 , including 10 of 19 from 50 yards or longer.Trinnaman was signed by the Jets as a rookie free agent in May. He played in New York’s preseason opener, but sat out last week at Washington.

offensive team in 2018 when James White is on the field. The running back Sony Michel Jerseys 2019 , known more for his pass catching than his running, has seen his number of snaps slip the past two weeks with the return of the previously injury Rex Burkhead. The Patriots lost both games, giving them five losses for the first time since 2009.But the White numbers and their effect on the team go back beyond the past two weeks.Consider:鈥擳he Patriots are 7-1 in games White gets 35 or more snaps, 2-4 in games he gets 34 or less.鈥擶hite averages 14.7 touches (runs or passes caught) per game in New England's wins, just 7.4 in the losses.鈥擭ine of White 10 touchdowns this season have come in victories.鈥擶hite is averaging 6.6 catches per games in the wins, 4.4 in the loss - and seven of those came in the first loss at Jacksonville.鈥擧e is averaging 7.4 carries per game in wins, 3.0 in losses.鈥擜nd he has had 59 snaps since Burkhead's return; White had as many as 61 in a single game, a win, earlier in the schedule."We have guys, a lot of different role players. I just try to play my role each and every week," White said Wednesday. "You play 10 snaps, you play 60 snaps, it just kind of depends on how the defense is matching up against us and the flow of the game."All of us try to make the most of the opportunities that we get. It could be me one week, it could be somebody else another week. I can't complain if there's one game I'm not touching the ball as much one week as the previous week."Asked if he thrives on more work, White, who hasn't scored a touchdown in the last five games Byron Cowart Jersey Boys , flashed a big smile, laughed and said, "I just try and make the most of the opportunities that I get, whether it's more work, less work, you just have to capitalize on what you get."In other words, as a captain 鈥?and a Patriot 鈥?he's not about complaining about playing time."Any time you have multiple guys that play a similar position that are capable of doing good things in the game, you obviously have choices to make," offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday. "Sometimes those choices mean more or less of something, and other times, they are factors that are not necessarily in our control that affect overall production and ability to get one person the football."Certainly, James is a player that has been very successful and productive in his role, and other teams are aware of that. He gets plenty of attention from other people and sometimes that means the ball needs to go somewhere else, and sometimes we can still find a way to get him the football and let him have the opportunity to make plays. I mean, he's obviously a very good player for us, has been tremendous in his role White Duke Dawson Jerseys , is very valuable. So, the more he touches it, the more we can get it to him, we usually feel very good about those opportunities." By this point in his legendary career, we know a few things about Bill Belichick. We know that as a defensive game-planner, he wants to “take away what you do best.” He wants to make the opponent “fight with one arm behind their back.” Odds are you will hear one or both of those cliches this Sunday afternoon when the New England Patriots host the Kansas City Chiefs. We also know that Belichick is a student of Sun Tzu, given some of the promotions for the upcoming NFL100 special from the NFL Network. As Belichick is filmed saying:We also knows that he fears tight ends. That was exemplified this week when in comments to the media, Belichick heaped praise on Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. It was also exemplified over a year ago, when in their regular season meeting Belichick focused a ton of attention in #87’s direction. Using some combination coverages, some bracket coverages and often denying him a free release off the line of scrimmage — even when aligned well outside the box — Belichick and the Patriots were able to hold Kelce out of the end zone back in Week 6 last season. That challenge is renewed this week when the Chiefs visit Gillette Stadium.Belichick said of Kelce this week “[h]e’s good at everything. He’s big. He’s fast. He’s good after the catch. He does a really good job of gaining leverage on defenders. He also creates space for other players as well. He’s a very smart player. He’s a hard guy to tackle when he gets the ball.” Furthermore, he is a tight end in name only. “Call Kelce whatever you want, he’s one of the best receivers in the league.” The TE has the route tree to back that statement up. “(His route tree) is probably bigger than anyone in the league,” Belichick said to the media. “He’s got every tight end route, every receiver route. There’s not a route he doesn’t run. He does everything but run routes out of the backfield. He probably does some of that. Maybe they’re saving that.”Numbers back this up too. According to Pro Football Focus’s charting data, Kelce has been targeted 12 times this season on throws of 20+ yards, tied with Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews for the most among TEs this season. On those 12 targets? Kelce has eight receptions for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Only six wide receivers in the league have more touchdowns on throws of 20 yards or more. Of course Andy Reid is no fool. He knows that among the many weapons at his disposal Duke Dawson Jerseys 2019 , including Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman, Kelce poses a unique challenge. That is why Reid often uses Kelce on Y-Iso alignments, forcing the defense to make a difficult choice.(Something the Patriots would often do with Rob Gronkowski, but that is a discussion for another time).Take this third down conversion by the Chiefs from last week. Facing 3rd and 10 against the Oakland Raiders, they line up with Patrick Mahomes (#15) in the shotgun and they employ a bunch look to the right, with Kelce isolated on the left:Kansas City runs a sail concept here to the bunch side of the formation, while Kelce runs a deep curl. Oakland responds with a Cover 1 Robber look:One of the safeties rotates down into the middle of the field to take away in-breaking routes, such as Kelce’s curl route which drifts towards the middle of the field. That leaves the Raiders exposed in man coverage situations along the boundary, and Hill (#10) is able to spin his defender as he breaks to the outside on a deep out pattern:Mahomes hits the speedy wideout in stride, and the Chiefs have a first down. This play highlights the difficulties facing this offense, which get magnified when the Chiefs use this formation. By putting Kelce isolated to one side of the formation, the defense needs to declare pre-snap their intentions. Do they play zone coverage with a cornerback over him? Man coverage with a safety? Man coverage with a cornerback, which either forces you to play man coverage with a safety elsewhere, some kind of combination coverage or go light with extra defensive backs in the game, exposing you to the run game. You probably do not want to spot drop into straight zone coverage against this look, as the Los Angeles Chargers tried on this play from Week 11:The defense spot drops into a basic Cover 2 scheme on this play White Danny Etling Jerseys , and it is like taking candy from a baby. The Chiefs run a Flat-7 Smash concept, and Kelce is wide open for the touchdown. In their regular season meeting last year, the Patriots tried a few different things against Kelce and managed to have some success limiting his production. He had five catches for 61 yards and was held out of the end zone, and needed nine targets to produce those numbers. In addition, both of Mahomes’ interceptions came on passes thrown in his direction, such as this end zone pick:If you notice on this play, Dont’a Hightower (#54) aligns on Kelce who is detached from the tackle and chips him on the TE’s release. Then, the Patriots bracket Kelce with Patrick Chung (#23) using outside leverage and Duron Harmon (#21) playing him to the inside. Mahomes is flushed from the pocket (in part by Hightower) and still looks for his tight end, and the pass is intercepted. The extra attention does, however, come at a cost. On Hill’s stunning 75-yard touchdown with just over three minutes remaining, Kelce is virtually triple covered, and Harmon is left alone with the speedy Hill:Devin McCourty (#32) has inside leverage against Kelce while his twin brother Jason (#30) is playing him to the outside. Kelce does not see the football, but the Chiefs see the end zone. Returning to this season, often Reid will pair Kelce’s Y-Iso alignment and route with a multi-level passing concept to the other side of the formation. On this short completion to Hill against the Raiders, Kelce runs a corner route out of an isolated alignment Danny Etling Jerseys 2019 , while the Chiefs have a “Peel” (post/wheel) concept to the outside, and Hill working underneath against a linebacker in space:The secondary takes care of the peel combination, as well as Kelce on his vertical route, but that leaves Hill working underneath against a pair of linebackers. While this just goes for a six-yard gain, something tells me that Reid will take that every time, given the potential for Hill to get more with just one missed tackle. Here is just one more example of this philosophy. On this second quarter throw to Kelce on a quick out pattern, Mahomes also has a levels concept working to the strength of the formation, His tight end is open quickly out of his isolated alignment, but had Kelce been covered Mahomes could have worked back to the concept with three receivers to choose from:Kelce pulls in this throw, but Mahomes also had Sammy Watkins (#14) open on the backside of this play on his dig route. It goes without saying, the Patriots’ defense will have their hands full on Sunday. Perhaps Reid is also a student of Sun Tzu, and he knows that Kelce and their Y-Iso alignments are a way to play to their strengths as an offense. More than anything else, these formations force a defense to make some difficult choices and decisions. The decisions the Patriots make — and the execution of those responses — will go a long way towards deciding Sunday’s contest.

When constructing their roster Christopher Slayton NFL Draft , the New York Giants pay close attention to making sure the bottom portion of the roster is filled with players who have shown that they can excel on special teams.Pro Bowl special teamer Michael Thomas, Cody Core, Antonio Hamilton, Russell Shepard (now on IR), David Mayo, Nate Stupar are among the examples. Dropping a useful wide receiver in Bennie Fowler this week, mostly because he does not play special teams, is yet another example.Nowhere does the Giants’ attention to building a quality group of special teamers show up more than on the Giants’ punt coverage unit. The Giants are currently second in the league with a net punting average of 46.8 yards per kick, five full yards better than they did in that department a season ago. Part of that is simply because punter Riley Dixon is booming away at 48.1 yards per punt, nearly three yards better than his previous best of 45.7 (2016 with the Denver Broncos). The Giants, though, have been exceedingly stingy in not allowing returners to go anywhere once they haul in Dixon’s bombs. The Giants have given up just 21 yards on eight returned punts, an average 2.6 yards per return that has them third in the league.Antonio Hamilton, often aligned as a gunner when the Giants punt, has been a critical special teams player for the Giants for two seasons.“We just stick together. We stick with the plan. Riley does an excellent job of hanging the ball up and giving us enough time to get down there to cover the punts,” Hamilton said. “He’s doing a great job with managing that.“A lot of punters are out here outkicking their coverages and getting big returns. We’re kicking it deep and he’s hanging it up a long enough time for us to cover it. Great things happen when you get your guys down there around the ball.”Hamilton said Dixon who, like him, is in his second season with the Giants, has gotten better.“He’s just improved. He’s been doing an outstanding job. Kudos to him,” Hamilton said. “He’s KICKING that thing, and it’s hanging up there.”Riley DixonPhoto by Mike Zarrilli/Getty ImagesVeteran long snapper Zak DeOssie has been with Jeff Feagles and Steve Weatherford during his time with the Giants. “He’s got all the talent in the world,” DeOssie said of Dixon Christopher Slayton Buffalo Bills Jersey , who is in his fourth NFL season. “He’s just starting to realize it.”The Giants biggest special teams addition this season has been Cody Core, claimed on waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals when the Giants let Alonzo Russell go before the season began. An outstanding gunner, Core leads the Giants with four special teams tackles. Thomas and Hamilton (two apiece) are the only other players with more than one.“Cody doesn’t say two words, he comes in and he just does his job, and he does it very well. He plays hard, he’s physical, and he has really good awareness for the special teams area,” said special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey. “As a receiver, he’s solid, but where he excels is covering kicks, and he’s also an excellent blocker. He’s just a great teammate, and I think more than anything, that’s what the head coach wants and the GM wants, good people. When you couple that with his athleticism and his ability to make plays, you can’t ask for anything more.”Sitting at his locker on Wednesday, Core said a whole lot more than two words when I asked him about his work as a gunner.“I love it. I love it. Any time I get an opportunity I want to be the guy to make that tackle for the team. Every kick I want to be the first one down there making that tackle.” Or down the ball inside the 20, or inside the 10 or inside the 5 because it makes the other team’s offense work even harder and it helps our team,” he said.“It’s fun. It’s an attitude, you’ve gotta have the right mindset. You can’t just go out there and run. You’ve gotta work.”Core developed that attitude at Ole Miss. In addition to playing wide receiver, he played some safety early in his time there and played special teams all four years with the Rebels.Core also credited Dixon with helping the coverage team.“I think he’s No. 1 in the league to me in my eyes,” Core said, adding that Dixon’s ability to put the ball where the coverage team expects it has been critical.“That’s the difference. We know where it’s going. He has great direction and great ball placement. Yeah Color Rush Christopher Slayton Jersey , we do our part but he makes the job, I don’t want to say easy, but awareness-wise we know where it’s going, where it’s about to drop, how we need to be down field. He’s making the game easy.”With Shepard shelved for the season, Core and Hamilton are the primary gunners in punt coverage. Ask either of them about the depth the Giants have at that spot and they mention Corey Ballentine, Grant Haley and Cody Latimer as players who can all fill the gunner role effectively.“Unreal,” DeOssie said of the play so far this season from the gunners. “Those guys are just bringing a lot of savvy and speed. They’re around the ball. That’s all you can ask for. Double, single, whatever it is they’re putting forth their best effort. It’s unbelievable.” EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Since taking Daniel Jones with the sixth pick overall in the draft, the biggest question facing Pat Shurmur and the New York Giants is when does the kid replace Eli Manning at quarterback?A two-time Super Bowl MVP, the 38-year-old Manning is expected to start in the opening weekend of the season. So when? There’s the usual speculation Jones will play this season if the Giants, who have won eight games over the past two seasons, fall out of playoff contention. With Manning, the No. 1 pick overall in the 2004, in the final year of his contract, next year also is a possibility. The topic is something neither quarterback, nor the Giants, want to discuss. One person who will talk about it is Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner.Warner was replaced by Manning after the ninth game of the ’04 season. New York had a 5-4 record and was in the playoff hunt.“When you are the veteran guy and you know there is a guy behind you that eventually is going to play, it was always one of those things you had to fight. Not playing worried about making a mistake, or getting tight and playing differently than before Youth Christopher Slayton Jersey ,” Warner said Thursday as the Giants opened training camp. “Most guys will not tell you that, but it is the way it is. You go: ‘How long is my leash? If I have a bad game, is that it?. If I have a bad half, is that it?'”Warner had signed a one-year, $3 million contract after he was cut by St. Louis, so he knew it was a matter of time before Manning played. His goal was to hang on for two years — he had a player option for a second season — or parlay it into another job. He never finished the first year. After a 5-2 start, the Giants lost consecutive games to Chicago and Arizona, and coach Tom Coughlin made the change.Coughlin called Warner into his office and told him he was the better of the two quarterbacks and the move wasn’t fair.“I think Tom’s approach was we’re not a great football team, and it doesn’t mean something can’t happen. But is it better to kind of start the future and start building and get our young quarterback ready for that run two years from now and three years from now,” said Warner, who watched Manning go 1-6 the rest of the 2004 season. It turned out to be the right move for New York. The Giants went 11-5 the following season and won the NFC East. Two years later, they won the Super Bowl, the first of two Manning would win.“I think there’s a lot more flexibility with this situation because of who Eli is and the ability to kind of let this thing really play out instead of having to sit here and look for the first opportunity to get Daniel,” said Warner, now an analyst for NFL Network. “I don’t think the Giants are going to be doing that.”Warner said Manning can still make all the throws, provided his line protects him. It’s been that way throughout his 18-year career. The lack of protection and injuries to his receivers are the major reasons New York has made the playoffs once since winning the Super Bowl in February 2012.Jones still has much to prove to Warner. He has all the intangibles to play in the NFL, but can he raise his game as a pro and make the throws under more pressure?“When you watched him in college, there were times that physically where you wondered does he have that — that next-level talent from a physical standpoint doesn’t mean he can’t be great with that,” he said. “It just means the margin of error shrinks a lot and you have to be in tune with all those other things that you have to do.”Time will tell.Warner chose to leave the Giants after his one season and went to Arizona, where he led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl in 2008. He retired after the 2009 after being injured in a playoff game against the Saints.

Indianapolis Colts six years ago in a lopsided trade for the ages. The former first-round pick had underperformed in Indy as a 3-4 linebacker and was swapped for middle linebacker Kelvin Sheppard. Since then Youth Thomas Sweeney Jersey , he’s brought a ferocious pass rush and great all-around play to Buffalo, but his career is at a crossroads.Hughes is going to be 31 before the season starts and he’s entering the final year of a five-year, $45 million deal which will make him the second-highest cap hit on the roster in 2019. Which begs the question, should the Bills look to move on from Hughes, keep him for the final year of his contract, or sign him to an extension? We dove into all aspects of the decision and now you get to vote.All-22 Analysis(Read the entire article with GIFs by Jeff Kantrowski)There’s not much suspense here so I’ll cut to the chase. The Bills would be incredibly foolish to let Hughes find a new city. It’s true that his sack totals haven’t placed him in the best territory (seven in 2018). As a result, there’s a steady murmur of Hughes being washed up. Don’t buy into that narrative. Hughes is coming off one of his best seasons, even from a statistics standpoint.I think we all know the conclusion I came to about Jerry Hughes. Statistically, the only season he’s ever been more productive in was 2014. Defensive end impact players are a premium position and the Bills have a good one on the right side. Hughes is still a dynamic playmaker who makes his presence known. With the occasional hothead moment from Hughes being his biggest drawback, there’s no reason to let him walk.Salary Cap Implications(Read the entire article by Dylan Zadonowicz)If the Bills do surprisingly release Hughes, they would save quite a bit of money for the 2019 season. The team would have to turn to free agency and the NFL Draft to try and replace his production.Salary cap ramifications of cutting Hughes, numbers via Spotrac:2019 cap hit: $10.4 millionSalary due: $6.35 millionRoster bonus: $1 millionWorkout bonus: $150,000Annual sack incentives: $1 millionDead money if cut: $2.9 millionCap savings if cut: $7.5 million if released before roster bonusIn-house Replacement Options(Read the entire article by John Boccacino)The most logical in-house replacement is another former first-round pick: Shaq Lawson. Lawson struggled to make an impact in Rex Ryan’s 3-4 scheme during his rookie season, and didn’t get much better in 2017—the first season with Sean McDermott as head coach and Frazier as defensive coordinator. But in 2018, Lawson turned a corner and showed why Buffalo selected him with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Clemson. After appearing in 14 games (six starts) and finishing with four sacks, 12 QB hits, 30 total tackles (five for a loss), five passes defended, and two forced fumbles, Pro Football Focus graded Lawson as the league’s 20th-best edge rusher. The 24-year-old Lawson carries a $3,270,586 million cap hit that is fully-guaranteed in 2019, but one season removed from an even timeshare with veteran defensive end Trent Murphy on the left side of the defensive line, Lawson should be in line for even more action this year. Lawson displayed the same athleticism that made him a standout at Clemson, leading the defensive line in balls batted down at the line of scrimmage, and when he wasn’t sacking the quarterback he was causing chaos in the opposing backfield. When it comes to Lawson’s role with the Bills, the biggest issue isn’t whether he will have a place on Frazier’s defense in 2019—he has proven himself to be a valuable contributor—it’s what the Bills will do about the fifth-year option on Lawson’s rookie contract. With young depth, the Bills could take their chances moving on from Hughes with just the players on their roster now if they wanted.Free-Agent Replacement Options(Read the entire article by Sean Murphy)If Buffalo does decide to go the free-agent route, it’s a strong free-agent class to do so. The only problem, of course, is money. If Buffalo wants to land a big-name pass rusher Womens Thomas Sweeney Jersey , they will have to shell out big-time dollars at the expense, literally and figuratively, of other positions with more pressing needs.DeMarcus LawrenceThe golden goose of this year’s free agent class is the young, dominant pass rusher. Coming off his second straight season of at least ten sacks, Lawrence turns 27 in April, and he should command a contract of at least $100 million. Over the last two seasons, he has 25 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, and 49 quarterback hits. Ezekiel AnsahThe veteran former first-round pick of the Detroit Lions is coming off an injury-plagued down year—one where he was only able to play in seven games total. However, he still managed four sacks, three tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits in those seven games. For comparison’s sake, Hughes suited up in all of Buffalo’s games this year, and he totaled seven sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits.Frank ClarkThere may be some East Coast Bias here, but Clark is far more under-the-radar than the previous names on the list. Playing for a stellar Seattle Seahawks defense, Clark has amassed 35 sacks, 35 tackles for loss, and 72 quarterback hits over his four-year career. Last year, he totaled 13 sacks, 27 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, and one interception. Trey FlowersThe Bills could kill two birds with one stone with this signing, simultaneously strengthening their team and weakening a divisional opponent, the New England Patriots, in the process. Flowers is an excellent all-around player who had seven-and-a-half sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 20 quarterback hits last season. In his career, he has 21 sacks, 25 tackles for loss Authentic Thomas Sweeney Jersey , and 59 quarterback hits. Julius PeppersInsert obligatory mention of connections to Carolina Panthers via head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane here. The 39-year-old future Hall of Fame player still has some value as a situational pass rusher. He was with the Chicago Bears when McDermott was in Carolina, so their paths did not cross. It’s an unlikely signing.NFL Draft Replacement Options(Read the entire article with mini scouting reports by Andrew Griffin)If the Bills do move on from the long-time starter at defensive end, the team might best be served procuring some young, hungry talent in the draft. Currently, the 2019 Draft is loaded with talented pass rushers and defensive ends. Knowing the value teams place at the position, as many as five of the players listed below could end up as first-round picks.Tier INick Bosa (Ohio State) Josh Allen (Kentucky)Clelin Ferrell (Clemson)Nick Bosa is more athletic that his brother Joey, something he’ll prove at the combine in March. Importantly, he’s just as polished as Joey was when he came out for the draft. Allen appears to be athletic enough to handle multiple defensive roles, but he’s proven so effective as a pass rusher that coaches would be crazy to try to deploy him anywhere else. Although he isn’t as much of a natural bender as the names listed before him, Ferrell is big enough and good enough with his hands to the point where that lack of flexibility doesn’t matter too much.Tier IIJachai Polite (Florida)Brian Burns (Florida State)Montez Sweat (Mississippi State) Oshane Ximines (Old Dominion)Jaylon Ferguson (Louisiana Tech)Scouting reports available in the full article here.Tier IIICharles Omenihu (Texas)Joe Jackson (Miami-Florida)Zach Allen (Boston College)Ben Banogu (TCU)Scouting reports available in the full article here.Contract Extension Projection(Read the entire article by Matt Warren)Hughes has a current contract for $9 million per season over five years, and while it’s fair to expect a raise from that contract, that’s not the way the wind blew last year. Last offseason, Buffalo signed Trent Murphy to a $7.5 million per-year deal, and defensive ends on the market made less than that unless they were franchise-tagged. That would likely drive down the price for Hughes, but there’s a surge brewing. If Hughes and his agent are smart, they will wait until after all the huge deals get done at the start of free agency. With several big-name pass rushers expected to hit the market in March, per-year averages could soar.Conversely, the Bills should try to lock up Hughes while they still can get him for a discount before five guys sign huge deals this off-season. They have the cap space and they should sign one of their best defensive players for another few years. The time is right for both sides. Hughes can sign a lucrative deal before he turns 31 and hits free agency at nearly 32 before the 2020 season. The Bills get great production at a fair price for a few years. Here’s my projection:Three years, $33 million extensionFour years, $40.5 million total (including existing 2019)Fully guaranteed: $15.35 millionHughes and his camp can claim he received $11 million per year in new money, while the Bills can lock in Hughes at an average of $10 million per season. Both sides would probably agree to a sack-based incentive that could give him another $1 million each year as they did on his last contract.Read the full projection with comparable contracts and a yearly breakdown in the original article.Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY SportsWhat do you think the Bills should do with Hughes this offseason? ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — LeSean McCoy is doing his best to remain patient. It hasn’t been easy.Buffalo’s trademark rushing attack has gone missing one month into the season, making things more difficult for a new-look offense trying to find its identity with a rookie quarterback. McCoy has surprisingly been a nonfactor for Buffalo with the running game stuck in neutral.“We’re just trying to figure it out,” McCoy said.Getting back to basics in the run game is a point of emphasis for the Bills (1-3) as they look for a much-needed spark. The 31st-ranked offense was expected to lean on McCoy this season, but so far that hasn’t been the case. The Bills are 24th in rushing, down from sixth a year ago, and McCoy hasn’t been a focal point like in previous years. In three games, McCoy has 85 yards rushing on 21 attempts. He also has eight receptions for 41 yards, giving him 126 yards from scrimmage on the season — typical numbers in a single game for McCoy.McCoy did miss one game with a rib injury but was not limited due to the injury in Week 4 against Green Bay, a game in which he saw only five carries.“At the end of the day, all I can control is just when I get the ball in my hand Thomas Sweeney Jersey Boys , making plays when my number is called,” McCoy said. “It’s as simple as that. Help the team win games. … They know I want to be involved. They know I want to get the ball every play, so they know that.”The Bills built their offense around McCoy the previous two years and he rewarded them handsomely. A Pro Bowler in five consecutive seasons, McCoy had a career-best average of 5.4 yards per carry in 2016 (along with 1,267 yards, the fourth-highest total of his career) and 1,138 rushing yards a season ago, when he helped lead the Bills to their first playoff berth since 1999.Getting McCoy involved would be welcome for Buffalo for a variety of reasons. Not only is McCoy the team’s best playmaker, the Bills are looking to take pressure off Josh Allen, who struggled mightily against the Packers. Allen had just 58 yards passing in the first half against Green Bay and finished with 151 yards and two interceptions.“The game plan we have to win football games here in Buffalo is manage the game, play great defense, score in the red zone,” McCoy said. “It’s all the small things, give ourselves a chance to win. That’s all I can really say. We’re not the first team with a young quarterback. Because with a formula like that, you need a good running game, you need a great defense to help the young quarterback out. And I think we have that.”McCoy will need some assistance from the rest of Buffalo’s struggling offense. The line has had difficulty moving on from Eric Wood, Richie Incognito and Cordy Glenn, who all departed in the offseason. And the wide receivers, led by the inconsistent Kelvin Benjamin, have had trouble creating separation downfield and catching the ball with consistency.Coach Sean McDermott stressed the need for Buffalo to be better along the line of scrimmage.“If you don’t win at the line of scrimmage in the run or the pass game, you’ve got no chance,” McDermott said. “That’s a football fundamental 101 and we have to win at the line of scrimmage. You go back and you double down on things you believe in: the fundamentals, mindset, the plan. There’s a lot of hands in that, it’s not just the offensive line. It’s every position establishing the line of scrimmage.”The task will be difficult on Sunday against Tennessee. The Titans (3-1) have yet to allow a rushing touchdown and have only allowed seven touchdowns total.“We’ve got to make these adjustments offensively,” McDermott said. “That running game’s gotta get going.”NOTES: Safeties Micah Hyde (groin) and Rafael Bush (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday. Bush is considered day to day, while Hyde is week to week. … The Bills claimed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips off waivers from Miami and released defensive tackle Robert Thomas. Phillips had a sideline outburst on Sunday in Miami’s 38-7 loss to New England and said on his Instagram account Tuesday that he “couldn’t be happier” to leave Miami. Youth Shaq Lawson Jerseys , but if the Buffalo Bills (2-3) want to entertain hopes of making the playoffs for a second straight year, picking up a victory in Sunday’s showdown with the Houston Texans (2-3) certainly would help. The winner of this game will be 3-3 overall and would improve to 2-2 in the AFC. The loser would fall to 1-3 in the conference and would find itself at the rear of the pack in the pursuit of a playoff spot, especially in terms of tie-breaker scenarios come December. This is a matchup of two teams struggling to find consistency on offense. Buffalo’s offense has scored 3, 20, 27, 0, and 13 points through five weeks, while Houston has fared better, scoring 20, 17, 22, 37 Shaq Lawson Jerseys Stitched , and 19 points through its first five games. Among the questions facing the Bills: How will Buffalo slow down Houston’s dynamic quarterback, Deshaun Watson, who is questionable with a chest injury? Can Buffalo’s ground and pound approach on offense work for a second straight week? Will either of these offenses surpass 20 points this week?Despite Watson’s uncertain status, and despite a Bills defense that has tightened up and is allowing only 13.3 points per game over the last three weeks,Buffalo opened up as a 10-point underdog vs. the Texans. This will be the ninth meeting all-time, with the teams having split the first eight contests. The last time the Bills traveled to Houston, Buffalo squandered an early 10-0 lead as J.J. Watt picked off E.J. Manuel and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown in a 23-17 win by Houston. Manuel actually tossed a pair of TDs, but he also threw two INTs, and the Bills lost despite limiting the Texans to only 37 net rushing yards. Here’s how to watch the game from home:TV ScheduleDate: Sunday, October 14, 2018Time: 1 p.m. EasternChannel: The game will be carried locally on CBS on WIVB 4 in Buffalo, WROC 8 in Rochester Youth Frank Gore Jerseys , WTVH 5 in Syracuse and Utica, WRGB 6 in Utica and Albany, WCWN3 in Albany, WENY 36-2 in Elmira, and WBNG 12 in Binghamton and Elmira. To find out about his path to professional football, we spoke with a writer from CougCenter, SB Nation’s Washington State blog. Here’s what they had to say about their team’s former left tackle. How was Dillard’s college career? Was there a memorable moment or did he leave a legacy of any kind?Stellar. From the day he took over, he was an anchor on the line—which was totally wild, because he was a skinny, athletic kid when he signed. Something like 250 pounds. But he put on a ton of good weight and then was able to retain the athleticism and that’s how a low-three star kid at Washington State becomes a high first round pick in the NFL. There aren’t really moments or legacies for offensive linemen, but he’s a testament to what hard work and determination can do.What are Dillard’s strengths?Given the number of pass plays he blocked for over the past few seasons Adolphus Washington Jerseys Stitched , that’s his obvious strength. He’s a wall. What would you say are his weaknesses?I don’t know if it’s a weakness necessarily, but there will be questions about his run blocking simply because he didn’t do it a whole lot. He never put his hand on the ground. But it’s not like this makes him as weird today as it would have 10 or even 5 years ago. How quickly he takes to the new things he’s asked to do will be key. What sort of NFL team would Andre Dillard be a good fit for?A team that is primarily pass oriented and not looking for a road grader at left tackle. He’s not a mauler—he’s a tactician. Dillard is expected to be one of the picks in tonight’s first round, and given his positional value, he might just sneak into the top ten. Not a bad destination for that skinny, athletic, three-star recruit.

The awkward Red Dexter Lawrence Jersey , clunky transition from Eli Manning to someone not named Eli Manning has gotten even more awkward and clunky for the Giants. But at least they have a post-Eli option, in the form of sixth overall draft pick Daniel Jones. The question becomes when Jones will play. That question lands at storyline No. 16 on our #CountdownSZN list for 2019.The Giants have suggested the KC model (sit for a year, in reference to Patrick Mahomes and Alex Smith) and the GB model (sit for three, in reference to Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre). Then there’s the NYG model, which the team used 15 years ago, benching Kurt Warner (who was 5-4 at the time) for Eli during Eli’s rookie year.Of course Cheap Dexter Lawrence Jersey , there’s also the “we used a top-10 pick on a quarterback for a reason” model, which points toward making him the Week One starter. After the draft, the clues of Jones potentially starting from the get-go were hiding in plain sight — given that the Giant thought enough of Jones to make him the sixth overall selection, and given that Eli is widely believed to be in decline.Giants coach Pat Shurmur initially pooh-poohed the possibility, but clearly kicked the door open to a potential competition at the conclusion of the offseason program.Ultimately, it’s a simple analysis. If Jones performs as well as the Giants thought he would (given that they made him the sixth pick in the draft) Womens Dexter Lawrence Jersey , he should be able to win a fair and square competition with the fairly square Eli Manning. If, after all, Eli were playing at a level that would make him the sixth pick in the 2019 draft, the Giants wouldn’t have taken Jones. So now the question becomes whether Jones performs during training camp and the preseason in a way that makes the Giants think he was indeed worthy of being the sixth pick. Given the intense criticism that the Giants received for making Jones the sixth pick, maybe they’ll be inclined to let the two compete — and to quietly root for Jones to win.At some point, Jones will play. When he does Men Dexter Lawrence Jersey , the Giants will find out whether he was indeed worthy of being the sixth pick in the draft. Along with everyone else.If the Giants ultimately decide to go with Jones from Week One, a very interesting decision will have to be made about Eli. He has a no-trade clause; unless he’d waive it, the options will be to keep him, paying $11.5 million in addition to the $5.5 million he has earned in roster bonus and workout bonuses, or to cut him loose before that $11.5 million becomes fully guaranteed at the start of the regular season. Antonio Brown Stephon Gilmore Jersey , The Associated Press reported erroneously that team owner Robert Kraft was arrested in connection with a prostitution and sex trafficking sting in a Florida massage parlor. Kraft was charged with two counts of solicitation of prostitution after police said he was twice videotaped during a paid sex act at the massage parlor, but he was never arrested.A corrected version of the story is below:In cryptic tweet, Antonio Brown appears to retire from NFLIn cryptic tweet, Antonio Brown appears to retire from NFL, takes shots at others previously accused of sexual misconductBy JIMMY GOLENAP Sports WriterFOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Antonio Brown went on a Twitter rant on his first NFL Sunday without a team, announcing he was done for good with the league that exiled him. Even though, he claimed, it had been more lenient toward others facing allegations of sexual misconduct. On the morning his most recent team was preparing to play without him, the fleet-footed but fleeting New England receiver said in a tweet: "Will not be playing in the NFL anymore" and took shots at Patriots owner Robert Kraft and longtime Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.Kraft has been charged in a prostitution and sex trafficking sting in a Florida massage parlor and has not been punished; "Different strokes different folks clearly Womens Montee Ball Jersey ," Brown wrote.Roethlisberger was suspended for four games in 2010 after he was accused of sexual assault for a second time. "4 games for Big Ben crazy world I'm done with it," Brown tweeted over a screenshot of a news article about the investigation.Several of the tweets had been deleted by the time the Patriots kicked off against the New York Jets a couple of hours later. One of the NFL's most prolific receivers for a decade, Brown was traded out of Pittsburgh and released in Oakland after wearing out his welcome in both cities. The Patriots signed him anyway, and just days later a former trainer filed a civil lawsuit in Florida accusing him of rape. He played in one game, then was released after the team learned he tried to intimidate a second woman who accused him of sexual misconduct.Asked by CBS before the game what led him to end things, Patriots coach Bill Belichick declined to comment.Brown's first tweet on Sunday seemed to indicate that he will fight the Patriots' decision to withhold a $9 million signing bonus. The first installment is due on Monday, and the Patriots are attempting to void the deal even though they played him in one game despite knowing about two separate accusations of sexual misconduct.A person familiar with the process told The Associated Press that Brown has not yet filed a grievance, which the NFLPA would be obligated to pursue. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the grievance is not released to the public.Brown had also been guaranteed $29 million by the Raiders."Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore," he wrote. "These owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up !"Brown also appeared to condone threats made against the Sports Illustrated writer whose article included the allegations that led to Brown's release. Over a news article describing the threats from some Patriots fans, Brown wrote http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-troy-niklas-jersey , "System working effectively."That tweet also was deleted.A four-time All-Pro who caught 837 passes over nine seasons with the Steelers, Brown wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh after he went missing for two days before the 2018 season finale. The Steelers traded him to Oakland, which signed him to a contract that would have paid him up to $50 million over the next three seasons. But he never played a game for the Raiders, quarreling with the coach and general manager until they, too, released him. The Patriots signed him only a few hours later, giving him a one-year deal.Belichick also declined to comment on Brown after the 30-14 victory over the New York Jets. Special teams captain Matthew Slater wished the man who was briefly his teammate well."I wish everyone involved well," Slater said. "I'm not the type of person who would wish ill will on anyone. I always try to take a positive spin on things. That's where I'm going to leave it."AP Pro Football Writer Barry Wilner contributed to this report. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Football fans in three states legally bet almost $185.5 million on the Super Bowl this year, with sportsbooks ending Sunday with mixed results and Nevada operators seeing the first drop in the total amount wagered on the game since 2015.The game between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams was the first major professional sporting event to be posted on the boards of sportsbooks outside Nevada. All opened after the U.S. Supreme Court ended a federal ban on wagering on sports last year.Figures released Monday by gambling regulators in Nevada show people wagered $145.94 million at the state’s 200 sportsbooks, $12.65 million less than in 2018. Sportsbooks operators in New Jersey accepted about $34.9 million in wagers and lost money Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , while in Mississippi, fans bet around $4.67 million at non-tribal casinos.“I would characterize it as a solid day. It wasn’t a bad day or a great day; it was right in the middle,” said Jay Kornegay, vice president of race and sports book operations at Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.Nevada’s effective monopoly on sports betting ended last spring, when the Supreme Court ruled the ban should be lifted. Casinos in seven other states — Rhode Island, Delaware, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New Mexico — now accept wagers on sports. The list is expected to grow by next year.New Jersey gambling regulators said sportsbooks lost $4.6 million when they paid $39.5 million to those who won bets. Many gamblers backed the Patriots Womens Phillip Dorsett Jersey , who beat the Rams 13-3 and covered the spread of 2 1/2 points.Super Bowl Sunday “was by far our biggest day ever in New Jersey in terms of handle,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US, which runs sportsbooks at two casinos and a racetrack in New Jersey as well as dozens of sportsbooks in Nevada. “It was really good.”He said William Hill’s take for the day “was pretty much break even win/loss. We couldn’t be more pleased overall — the retail locations were strong, especially the Ocean Resort Casino, which had an unbelievable crowd.”DraftKings, which runs mobile wagering in New Jersey along with an in-person lounge at Resorts casino, also set a new record for the amount wagered. Spokesman James Chisholm said the company paid out about $11 million in winning bets to customers, “and took a small, barely seven-figure loss.”The Westgate lost on the game itself Youth Dont’a Hightower Jersey , but did well on proposition bets — wagers on unique and various outcomes offered starting a few days ahead of the game — and on futures bets, which allow gamblers to wager on outcomes way in advance. Some bettors picked the Rams to win the title at the start of the season, for example, and lost their bet on Sunday. But one particular proposition bet had operators sweating. The Westgate and William Hill offered 500-1 and 300-1 odds respectively on no team scoring a touchdown. The game’s lone touchdown happened with seven minutes left on the fourth quarter.“We would have been carried off on a stretcher if it hit,” Asher said of the proposition bet.

FLORHAM PARK Womens Neal Sterling Jersey , N.J. (AP) — Andre Roberts is a travelin’ man whose passions include hitting the links at golf courses all over the world. You name a destination and there’s a good chance the New York Jets kick returner has been there. After all, Roberts has visited all seven continents.Yes, even Antarctica. There’s one place, though, he has never been: the Pro Bowl. But Roberts is doing all he can to book a trip there this season.“Yeah, I think I’m a Pro Bowl-caliber returner,” Roberts said. “I’ve done well this year. I’m tops in the league in a lot of categories, so I think I’ve done a good job this year.”That’s an understatement.Roberts leads the NFL in punt return average (15.3 yards) among qualified players, and is tops in the league with 841 yards on kick returns. He also has eight returns of 40 or more yards — five on kickoffs and three on punts — while the next-closest player has no more than three.“I don’t know too many returners in this league that are dual returners that have done what he’s done this year,” special teams coordinator Brant Boyer said.“You have some guys that are slightly better on kick return or whatever. But if you look at the dual stats and what he’s done this year, I don’t think there’s a better returner in the game.”Roberts has stabilized what has been a position of flux the past few years as the Jets tried the likes of Kalif Raymond, JoJo Natson, ArDarius Stewart, Jalin Marshall, Nick Marshall, Jeremy Ross and C.J. Spiller in the return game.None could provide a consistently reliable option on special teams. The Jets signed Roberts in the offseason, and the 30-year-old veteran has been a big-time spark.“Yeah, special teams has kept me in the league,” Roberts said. “And you know teams have seen that I can do the return stuff at a high level http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-c.j.-mosley-jersey , so I still feel like I’m ascending. Age ain’t nothin’ but a number, but I feel good right now and hope I can just keep going.”Roberts is a free agent after the season and there’s uncertainty as to the futures of both coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan. But, Roberts, who is also a part of the offense as a wide receiver, has proven himself to be a key contributor for the Jets this season. He had a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown in the season opener, and has been on the verge of scoring several times since on both punt and kickoff returns.“He’s been great for us,” special teams standout Terrence Brooks said. “When he hits those holes, he just goes. We love blocking for him, man. We want to get him in the end zone. It’s been a while, but we’re going to try to get another one before the season ends.”Roberts has three punt returns for touchdowns in his career, with the other two coming in 2016 with Detroit. He also brought back a kickoff for a score with Washington in 2015. He has been a consistent return threat since his college days at The Citadel, and was drafted by Arizona in the third round in 2010.He has not been as much of a factor in the passing game as he was early in his career with the Cardinals and Redskins, but has certainly found his niche in the league.“I still play receiver,” Roberts said, “but I definitely embrace the role and I feel very comfortable with it and I’m making it my life now.”So is traveling, something not unexpected from a guy who grew up in a military family with both parents serving in the U.S. Army. He was born in Alaska, and moved to places such as Texas, South Carolina and St. Croix — after his parents were deployed to South Korea.“I moved around a little bit,” he said with a smile. “I’ve heard others do a lot more than that Avery Williamson Jersey , but it’s been fun.”The travel bug was ingrained in him at an early age, so he has always wanted to explore. He set a personal goal of seeing all seven continents — North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica — by the time he turned 30.Mission accomplished.Larry Fitzgerald, his buddy and former Cardinals teammate, joined him on several of the trips — including to Antarctica in 2013.“We said the same thing most do about Antarctica, like, nobody goes there, so why not just go?” Roberts said, laughing. “So we went on a cruise and stayed on a boat. Obviously, there are no hotels down there, but a lot of penguins, a lot of ice, a lot of snow. Saw some whales and a lot of glaciers. So, it was a fun experience.”But the best trip he’s ever taken? That’s an easy one: Australia — where he met his fiancee, Olivia Kenny Womens Le'Veon Bell Jersey , in 2014.“Me and Larry were out there playing golf and we were in Melbourne and came back to Sydney for the flight back home,” Roberts recalled. “We went out one night, and met her and some of her friends and kept in contact with her and everything worked out.”Now, the couple, who welcomed a baby boy in May, plan to be married in January after the football season.First, though, Roberts might have to make room on the itinerary for a trip to Orlando, Florida, for the Pro Bowl.“I don’t think there’s a guy,” Boyer said, “that’s done more than Roberts this year.” Wyatt Ray is getting another chance to be a big hit in the NFL.The New York Jets signed the linebacker with famous musical bloodlines to the practice squad on Monday.Ray is the grandson of the late Nat King Cole and nephew of the late Natalie Cole. Ray’s mother Casey and aunt Timolin are twin younger sisters of Natalie Cole.Ray was released from Buffalo’s practice squad on Nov. 6 after being signed last month. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound pass rusher was signed by Cleveland in May as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He was among the Browns’ final cuts in training camp and also spent time on Houston’s practice squad earlier this season.Ray had 17 career sacks at Boston College, including nine sacks in 12 games in his last season. The Jets released linebacker Jamey Mosley to make room for Ray on the practice squad.Mosley, the younger brother of Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley, had two stints on New York’s practice squad this season. He was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama in May.

But is it the best contract in NFL History? Maybe not.An argument could be made that the contract signed last year by Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is better than Wilson’s new deal.(Let me know when you stop laughing.)Wilson’s deal commits him to the Seahawks through 2023 http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-trevor-siemian-jersey , at an average payout of $31.4 million per year. Of the $157 million payout, 68 percent is guaranteed for injury and 44.5 percent is fully guaranteed at signing.Cousins’ contract covers only three years, with an average of $28 million per year. The full amount — all $84 million — is fully guaranteed at signing. While Wilson is getting $3.1 million more per year, Cousins will hit the market again in 2021. Wilson won’t hit the market until 2024, at the earliest. And there’s an important difference regarding whether Cousins and/or Wilson will hit the open market. Wilson will be subject to the franchise or transition tag. Cousins has a no-transition tag in his contract, and the 44-percent rule (since he’s twice been tagged before) would make his franchise tender a whopping $44 million in 2021.Whether Cousins will get a market-value deal in 2021 will depend largely on whether and to what extent he plays well enough to merit one. But with the top of the quarterback market already spiking from $25 million per year to $35 million per year in less than 22 months, and with the salary cap poised to continue to spike with a new labor deal, new TV deals, and the growth of legalized gambling, Wilson may soon regret being committed through 2023.Cousins, on the other hand, may be very happy to be hitting the market at a time when agents and teams will know much more about where the cap is heading than they do now. Barring ties in Week 17 — and there are some wild scenarios should certain games end in draws Sunday — the road to the playoffs is quite straight in the NFC. The path to a first-round bye in the AFC has a bunch of curves in it.Already in are NFC division winners Dallas (East) Womens George Iloka Jersey , New Orleans (South), Chicago (North) and the Los Angeles Rams (West). AFC divisions clinched belong to New England in the East and, well, nobody else. But there are clear leaders .Seattle owns an NFC wild card, and the LA Chargers have one in the AFC, though they can still win the AFC West.“You either believe in something or you don’t,” says coach Pete Carroll, whose 9-6 Seahawks made the postseason in what was considered a rebuilding year. “I think just staying the course and knowing we’re on to something. Believing in the history. We know what we’re capable of doing. We’ve shown it over a lot of years. You’re always adapting, but it’s staying what you’re true to. I think that’s what is happening. We look like a team that we have seen before, and that’s powerful.”Most powerful so far has been New Orleans, with the league’s best record at 13-2, and a dynamic offense led by Drew Brees. The Saints have home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Rams (12-3) get the other opening-round bye if they beat San Francisco on Sunday. If they lose and the Bears win at Minnesota Dalvin Cook Jersey , Chicago (11-4) earns the week off and Los Angeles drops to the third seed.A Bears win also could keep the Vikings (8-6-1) out of the postseason, providing defending champion Philadelphia (8-7) wins at Washington. Only the Vikings or Eagles can get the second NFC wild card.“We’ve got to empty the bucket, and that’s the way we’ve got to play next week at home,” Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph says. “I’m really looking forward to that environment.”In the AFC, seeding is more muddled. Any of four teams could be the top or second seed. The simplest route is if Kansas City (11-4) and New England (10-5), currently the top two in the conference, both win Sunday. But if the Chiefs lose at home to Oakland and the Chargers (11-4) win at Denver, Los Angeles moves into the top spot.Houston (10-5) also could wind up No. 1 in the AFC with losses by the Chiefs, Patriots against the Jets, and Chargers. New England, the only unbeaten team at home this year, would get the first seed with a victory and losses by the Chiefs and Chargers. And get this: Houston doesn’t even own a division title. If the Texans fall at home to Jacksonville http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-pat-elflein-jersey , the winner of the Colts at Titans game in Tennessee takes the AFC South, and the Texans become a wild card, joining either the Chiefs or Chargers.Texans coach Bill O’Brien, whose club began the season 0-3, is intrigued by the division being so ensconced in the playoff picture this year.“I think that’s an interesting question because I can remember the question was, two years ago, ‘Why is the AFC South so bad?'” he says. “Now, ‘Why is it so good?’“…I’ve never thought it was bad. I think every year it’s been extremely difficult to win games in the division. I just think there’s a lot of great coaches. You’ve got Frank (Reich) in Indy, Mike (Vrabel) in Tennessee, Doug (Marrone) in Jacksonville. You’ve got a lot of great players, quarterbacks, so you’ve got a tough division.”The AFC division often looked at as the toughest has been the North Womens Harrison Smith Jersey , which, not surprisingly, has come down to Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh. Except the Ravens (9-6) host the Browns, while the Steelers (8-6-1) must beat visiting Cincinnati and hope their archenemies from Cleveland sidetrack Baltimore, either beating or tying the Ravens.Neither the Ravens nor the Steelers can be a wild card — except if Pittsburgh ties the Bengals, then Indianapolis and Tennessee also tie. Then the Steelers are in.Of course, Pittsburgh also can win the North with a draw and a loss by Baltimore.Your head spinning yet?

Even in a down year Tramon Williams Jersey White , the Packer QB managed to pick up some hardware at the NFL Honors in Atlanta."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCSTShareTweetShareShareAaron Rodgers recognized for “Moment of the Year” at 2019 NFL HonorsDale Zanine-USA TODAY SportsThe Packers may have suffered through an unmemorable season, but they did get things kicked off with one of the best games of 2018, and on Saturday night, Aaron Rodgers was recognized for the teams’ stunning 24-23 comeback against the historically great Bears defense with the “Moment of the Year” award. It was a thrilling and supremely unlikely victory given how the season progressed for both the Bears and Packers. The Bears would jump out to a 17-0 halftime lead after knocking Aaron Rodgers from the game with what looked to be a fairly serious knee injury. Rodgers would return, down 20-0, to a huge ovation in the second half, and partially because he had no mobility, morphed into a Tom Brady-esque quick strike passer to finish out the game. Getting the ball out early served to neutralize the fierce Bear pass rush, and Chicago had no answer as Rodgers carved up the NFL’s number one defense as if it were Dom Capers-led. Rodgers capped off the game with a 75-yard touchdown to Randall Cobb DeShone Kizer Jersey White , who weaved in and out of a sea of defenders before finally taking it to the house. Both Cobb and the Packers peaked early in 2018, as this game accounted for roughly a third of Cobb’s season production. After this he would catch only 29 balls for just 241 yards (8.3 per reception), for 1 TD, while only hauling in 56% of targets. Presenting the award was none other than Brett Lorenzo Favre, who Rodgers thanked as an early mentor, and an inspiration. Rodgers also thanked “Cobby,” who is unlikely to return to the team next season after a sensational Packer career. It was a nice moment, and a well-deserved honor for a sensational performance, but it was also a bittersweet reminder of what might have been. That said David Bakhtiari Jersey White , it was also an indicator of just how good the team could have been with slightly better health, and slightly better coaching. In 2019, perhaps they will have both. Meaningless football is something unusual for Green Bay Packers fans in the past few decades, but the 2018 team is no ordinary Packers squad. After being eliminated from the postseason by the Chicago Bears last Sunday, the results of the team’s final two games will dictate nothing more than draft position and two opponents for the 2019 schedule. Aaron Rodgers is playing, however. The two-time MVP views these final games as an opportunity to exercise his leadership abilities, suiting up and leading by example. Meanwhile, Davante Adams has his sights on some Packers single-season records. After hitting exactly 100 receptions after last week’s game, he is 12 catches short of the team’s single-season record http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-aaron-jones-jersey , which Sterling Sharpe set in 1993. Adams is also 204 yards short of Jordy Nelson’s record of 1,519, set back in Adams’ rookie year of 2014. Meanwhile, the New York Jets are also playing for nothing, sitting at 4-10 on the season. https://www.brownsfanshop.com/James-Burgess-Jersey , the Los Angeles Rams' secondary was dazzled by Odell Beckham Jr.'s latest feat of one-handed brilliance when they watched Monday night's game."I mean, we already know what (Beckham) can do, but that was crazy," Rams safety John Johnson said after watching Beckham's catch against the Jets. "I really liked the throw, too."When they get an in-person look at Beckham, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns (1-1) this weekend, the Rams' (2-0) defensive backs are hoping to keep up their strong start to the season with another shutdown game. And if they give up any big plays in Cleveland, they don't plan to let it distract them from their goal of another strong season for a relatively unsung section of the defending NFC champions' defense."Any cornerback will tell you, it's all about the next play, the next play," Nickell Robey-Coleman said. "We'll just play the best defense we can play, and at the end of the day, Odell Beckham is still going to do something like that. We just have to move on."Not many opponents have done something like that lately to the Rams. After capping three straight strong playoff games by holding Tom Brady to 262 yards and no touchdowns in an otherwise miserable Super Bowl for Los Angeles, the Rams are off to a superb start in passing defense again over the first two games of this season.Los Angeles has allowed an NFL-low one reception longer than 20 yards, and opponents are managing just 5.52 yards per reception — third fewest in the league. The Rams and Patriots are the only teams that haven't allowed a touchdown pass. The Rams are seventh in the league in yards passing allowed (201.5) even though they haven't trailed in a game, which means their opponents have been throwing the ball urgently while playing from behind in the second half. They've also got two interceptions and five sacks despite the offseason departures of nose tackle Ndamukong Suh and safety Lamarcus Joyner. The pass defense got an inadvertent boost last week when Drew Brees injured his thumb in a collision with Aaron Donald's hand on the second series of the Rams' 27-9 win over New Orleans. Capable backup Teddy Bridgewater couldn't get the Saints into Los Angeles' end zone despite throwing 30 passes to Michael Thomas and a solid group of receivers."We've got great players," safety Eric Weddle said, citing Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters and Robey-Coleman as "three of the best cornerbacks in the league. We all can cover. We all can manipulate the defense. We all can run. And I think we have A.D. (Donald), the best player on defense in the league, playing on our side. It's a complete team effort. As a secondary, we strive to be the best. We know the quickest way to lose in this league is giving up long plays."Weddle replaced Joyner in the secondary this season Jim Brown Color Rush Jersey , and the veteran is calling the signals for the passing game. Weddle says there's no single reason for the Rams' solid start on defense, but his teammates are already giving him credit for keeping them organized and focused.Beckham and Mayfield have meant another long week of work for the Rams' secondary, but Weddle believes the Rams can hold their own."He's amazing, but every week the receivers are good," Weddle said. "If we sleep on a receiver, we're going to get torched. Odell is a special talent, but we don't take anyone for granted. Obviously he draws a little more attention because of the type of player he is and the success he's had over his career. Schematically, yeah, you change a little bit of your stuff, but I'm not losing sleep at night thinking about how we're going to guard him. We've got great players and a great system. We'll go out and play. We present as much challenge as they present to us."NOTES: Two offensive starters missed practice, and their availability for Sunday is in serious doubt. Tight end Tyler Higbee has a chest bruise, and right guard Austin Blythe has a low left ankle sprain. Coach Sean McVay didn't completely rule out either player for Cleveland, however. Running back Malcolm Brown was limited in practice because of an ankle injury, and Donald also was limited with a back problem. ... McVay didn't confirm Jamil Demby would join the starting offensive line if Blythe can't play, as expected, although he said Demby "did a nice job" filling in against the Saints. BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Baker Mayfield won’t back down, won’t change. Not for Hue Jackson or TV commentators or critics or anyone.Don’t bother telling Cleveland’s rookie quarterback how he should act, what he should say or how he should feel. He’s not listening.“I’m not a cookie-cutter quarterback,” Mayfield said. “Never have been, never will be.”Dismissing some condemnation for recent comments and actions, Mayfield doubled down on Wednesday by saying he doesn’t regret calling former Browns coach Hue Jackson “fake” and promised to stay true to himself. After throwing four touchdown passes and leading the Browns to a 35-20 win on Sunday in Cincinnati Jamie Collins Jersey , Mayfield was cool toward Jackson when they met on the field and then said he was unhappy with the coach’s decision to take a job with the Bengals, a division rival, just weeks after he was fired by the Browns.Mayfield’s remarks drew some harsh criticism, especially from ESPN’s Damien Woody, a former NFL player who called the 23-year-old immature and hypocritical because he transferred from Texas Tech to Oklahoma. Mayfield fired back at Woody by posting a comment on Instagram assailing Jackson, pointing out he lost 30-plus games with Cleveland, labeling him “fake.”Mayfield isn’t taking back a single word.“People took it as me personally attacking Hue, but that’s not it,” he said. “It’s the fact that I get to have my own opinion on how it transpired and he gets to do what he wants. That’s how it is. I speak my mind. That’s just how I am, so I didn’t like the (Jackson) move and people don’t have to care. I’m not looking for anybody’s approval. I don’t regret any of it. It’s about this team and what we have, and we have to stick together and play together.”Mayfield, who has played superbly in leading the Browns to two straight wins, believes his passion to play and lead has been misread.“People get maturity confused with me being 100 percent comfortable in my own skin,” Mayfield said. “It’s not immature. It’s me being exactly who I am every day. Being that same guy for our team and I think that is very important for us right now.”Mayfield declined to elaborate about his relationship with Jackson, saying “it’s in-house information and it doesn’t matter.”But Mayfield’s conduct has struck a nerve — in Cleveland, where he’s being hailed as a franchise savior, and across the NFL, which is taking note of a Browns team making some noise. This is the swaggering, headband-wearing, flag-planting Mayfield the Browns knew they were getting when the team selected him with the No. 1 overall pick. He arrived carrying a Heisman Trophy but with other baggage, which included some questionable on-field antics — and an off-field arrest — that concerned some front-office executives but didn’t dissuade the Browns.Mayfield insists he’s just being himself, and he’ll deal with detractors the way he always has.“I have an opinion and I’m entitled to that Christian Kirksey Color Rush Jersey , but the most important thing is me doing my job and I can manage both, and that’s what people don’t understand,” he said. “Yeah, a quarterback that’s a little different from some of the guys to have a voice, but that’s just how I’ve always been and I’m not going to change for anybody.”Mayfield’s relishes the rebel label. It fuels him, fires up his teammates and has endeared him to Browns fans, who believe the future is bright. But while he loves being the outsider, Mayfield knows there’s a segment of people who wish he would tone down his act and behave more in line with Drew Brees or Peyton Manning. That’s their opinion, though. Mayfield is going to be his own man.“They are their own person. I’m not trying to be exactly like them,” Mayfield said. “Yeah, there are things that I absolutely admire about both of those guys, but I’m never trying to be anybody else. I’m going to be the best version of myself and that’s what has gotten me here.”It’s gotten the Browns back to playing meaningful games in December.Just as he does on Sundays, Browns left guard Joel Bitonio protected Mayfield.“If you look at Baker’s body of work since he’s been here, I think it’s shown that he’s a confident, sometimes cocky player, but you need to be that to be a quarterback in this league,” Bitonio said. “People go about it differently and he plays the game the right way, he works the right way, he does things the right way and I’m happy he’s our quarterback.”NOTES: Interim coach Gregg Williams said rookie OL Austin Corbett had his foot stepped on Sunday at Cincinnati. The No. 33 overall pick could be sidelined for an extended period. … Williams opened his news conference by offering condolences to the Texans following the death of their owner Bob McNair. Cleveland plays at Houston on Sunday.__

He walked on at Toledo as well, and now he is a sixth-round draft pick. As it turns out, not having healthy wide receivers is an impediment to professional offense. The good news for the Eagles is they may be getting one back this week.Via Dave Zangaro of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com, Eagles coach Doug Pederson said he’s optimistic about the chance of veteran wideout Alshon Jeffery returning for Thursday’s game against the Packers.“I’m hoping that he’s ready to go,” Pederson said Monday. “We’ll see this week. We’ve got a couple days. Walkthrough later today, we’ll get the guys in here. We’re hoping he’s ready to go.”Jeffery suffered a calf injury early in the loss to Atlanta last Sunday, and was out yesterday Randall Cobb Color Rush Jersey , along with DeSean Jackson. Jackson doesn’t appear as close to a return, but the Eagles will take what they can get. While they liked the depth offered by Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, missing a pair of starters at any position will impact any team.

Derek Carr turned things around in a hurry Sunday. He hooked up with open receivers Darius Leonard Color Rush Jersey , watched the running game establish itself and enjoyed seeing Oakland transform itself from a struggling offense to the kind coach Jon Gruden envisioned.Carr led the Raiders to touchdowns on three of their first four drives, and safety Eric Harris returned a late interception 30 yards for a touchdown to secure a 31-24 victory at Indianapolis.“We finished our drives, we converted on third downs, we were efficient running the football. Everyone did their job,” Carr said. “When everyone does their job we can score points.”The Raiders (2-2) entered Sunday desperately hoping to change course. They had produced just two scoring drives in their previous 18 possessions, and lost two straight by 18 or more points. With a trip to London looming, a bye week and two more road games on the schedule before returning home, Oakland knew what it needed to do.Carr delivered on a day he was 21 of 31 with 189 yards and two TDs.He threw an 18-yard TD pass to Foster Moreau on the game’s opening drive. On the Raiders’ next offensive play, receiver Trevor Davis scooted around the left side and sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-0 less than seven minutes into the game. After the Colts (2-2) converted a botched handoff into a 5-yard touchdown pass, Carr went back to work and connected with Tyrell Williams on a 19-yard TD pass for a 21-7 lead. But what coach Jon Gruden liked most was Oakland’s second-half start — a 16-play drive that consumed 9:12 and ended with a short field goal to give the Raiders a 24-10 lead.“It was as good a drive as I’ve been a part of to start the second half https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Denzelle-Good-Jersey ,” Gruden said. “I’m as proud of this win as any I’ve had before.”The defense made sure it held up as the Raiders won their first game in Indy since 2001.Indy (2-2), meanwhile, looked lethargic with starting receivers T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess out with injuries. The Colts gained 346 yards, more than half in the fourth quarter when they were scrambling to get back in the game. And the inability to sustain drives took a toll on Indy’s defense.“We couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start than we did today,” Colts coach Frank Reich said. “We were three-and-out and they were scoring touchdowns.”Still, the Colts had chances. Brissett’s a 4-yard TD pass to Chester Rogers with 5:27 to go got the Colts within 24-17. Even after Harris’ interception , Brissett again made it a one-score game with a 48-yard TD pass to Eric Ebron with 1:10 remaining.Brissett was 24 of 46 with 265 yards, three TDs and one interception.“We had a lot of long drives, a lot of sustained drives,” Carr said. “It happens when everyone is doing their assignment and on the same page.”BURFICT EJECTEDRaiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict was ejected early in the second quarter after being called for unnecessary roughness on a helmet-to-helmet collision with tight end Jack Doyle. Even before referee Scott Novak announced to the crowd what a replay review determined Clayton Geathers Jersey , Burfict was jogging into the locker room. It’s not the first time Burfict has run afoul of league rules. receiver Doug Baldwin last week Tedric Thompson Color Rush Jersey , and his unofficial retirement thread posted on social media Sunday, some fans have wondered why he hasn’t simply..." The OffseasonCap ClassroomDon’t expect an official retirement statement from Doug Baldwin anytime soonNew,6commentsPDTIn the wake of the release of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin last week, and his unofficial retirement thread posted on social media Sunday, some fans have wondered why he hasn’t simply made an official retirement announcement. The answer to that is very simple, in that it comes down to the requirements of the collective bargaining agreement to collect the injury protection payments to which he may be entitled following his release with an injury designation. Specifically, just like the situation evolved with Kam Chancellor following his neck injury during the 2017 season, had he officially retired he would have forfeited the portions of his 2018 and 2019 base salaries which were covered by injury protections. The same goes for Baldwin, whose injury protection payments will be calculated based on a percentage of his 2019 and 2020 base salaries, up to the maximum amount allowed by the league. If he retires, then his claim to injury protection payments because under Article 45 he must continue to rehab his injuries in order to recover from the myriad of surgeries he had this offseason. So Ethan Pocic Color Rush Jersey , in short, just as there was no official retirement announcement from Cliff Avril or Kam Chancellor, do not expect one from Doug Baldwin anytime soon. Making such an announcement will do nothing more than eliminate his ability to earn up to $1.775M over the next two years, and thus it seems that making such an announcement would not be the wisest choice. RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin says he’s ready to return to the lineup this week against the Arizona Cardinals.Baldwin has missed the past two games for Seattle after injuring the MCL in his right knee in the team’s season opener against the Denver Broncos.Baldwin returned to the practice field on Wednesday for the first time since defensive tackle Domata Peko rolled up on the back of his leg in Denver.“I know Pete has a press conference coming up eventually (on Friday) so you’ll have to ask him. … I’m ready to go,” Baldwin said on Thursday.“That’s going to be their call. There’s a lot of things that go into it, obviously, the precautionary reasons of making sure that I’m healthy fully so that I can go for the rest of the season and not just this game.”Said Carroll on Wednesday: “He looks really good and light on his feet. He looks very confident that he can have a chance to play this week, so we’ll see how that goes. He’s confident, that’s not a surprise. Let’s see if he can pull it off.”Baldwin hadn’t missed a game for Seattle since the 2012 season. He had appeared in 89 straight regular-season games and 12 postseason games since the previous time he was sidelined for an injury. The two games he missed that season were the only absences he’s had in his first seven years in the NFL.“Still a little frustrating because I feel like I’m still being held back a little bit,” Baldwin said. “I understand why and the precautionary reasons Shaquill Griffin Color Rush Jersey , but I’m chomping at the bit. I’m ready to go. This is what I do, so I’m excited about getting back out there.”Baldwin hasn’t enjoyed being forced to watch practice and games from the sideline. He got just two days of practice in with the team at the start of training camp before being shut down for nearly a month because of an issue with his left knee. He didn’t appear in any of the team’s four preseason games before ramping back up for the start of the season. He played just 11 snaps in Denver before injuring his right knee, most coming before the injury while a couple came as he tried to see if he could play through it.“I wanted to do everything I could to go back in and I did that and realized it wasn’t getting better,” Baldwin said.Baldwin has been limited in both practices he’s participated in on Wednesday and Thursday.Carroll said they will need to see how Baldwin can handle a workload with essentially two troublesome knees.“We need to find out,” he said. “We need to find out how it goes. Doug’s (Baldwin) a guy that we communicate with very directly over a long period of time. We’ll work our way through it and we’ll just assess how he’s doing and how it’s going.”Notes: Safety Earl Thomas did practice on Thursday — as he did a week ago — despite missing practice for non-injury reasons on Wednesday. Thomas has said he doesn’t intend to practice if he feels even the slightest bit diminished as he tries to look out for his health absent a contract extension from the team. … LG Ethan Pocic (ankle), RB C.J. Prosise (abdomen), DE Dion Jordan (hip), DE Rasheem Green (ankle) and LB K.J. Wright (knee) did not practice for a second straight day. RB Chris Carson (hip), RG D.J. Fluker (knee), DT Shamar Stephen (foot) and S Delano Hill (hamstring) were limited.
