SAN FRANCISCO -- Frank Gore saw a huge hole with the clock ticking down and his team trailing, and went for it with everything he had. China Jerseys Replica . Maybe not a season-saving 51-yard burst, but darn close to it. The San Francisco 49ers are far from ready to hand over their two-year division reign -- and certainly not on their home field, where they rarely lose against the NFC West. Phil Dawson kicked a 22-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining and the Niners held off the Seahawks 19-17 on Sunday, denying Seattle a chance to clinch the division at Candlestick Park. "Were playing for our lives," wideout Anquan Boldin said. "Were playing playoff football right now. Its win or go home." Gore broke for his big gain with just more than four minutes left, sparking the key 11-play, 76-yard drive that helped the 49ers (9-4) stop the playoff-bound Seahawks (11-2) from grabbing away the West in San Francisco. Dawsons fourth field goal gave him 20 successful attempts in a row, a franchise record topping Joe Nedneys 18 consecutive kicks in 2006-07. Russell Wilson threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Luke Willson and Marshawn Lynch ran for an 11-yard score for Seattle, denied a franchise-best sixth road victory in its fifth straight loss at The Stick. "I dont know if it was their Super Bowl, but they played a great game," Seahawks defensive end Red Bryant said. The 49ers are unbeaten at home against the West since losing to the Seahawks on Oct. 26, 2008. In an emotionally fueled afternoon of missed chances and costly penalties, this rivalry game more than lived up to the hype. "Enjoy it? Not the word I would use. Its like going to the dentist chair for 3 1/2 hours and getting a root canal," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said. "These games are only for the tough." Eric Wright, who briefly left the game with a head injury, intercepted a last-ditch deep pass by Wilson with 9 seconds left to seal it. The two young quarterbacks finished with nearly the same stats. Wilson went 15 of 25 for 199 yards and a touchdown with one interception, while counterpart Colin Kaepernick threw for 175 yards and completed 15 of his 29 passes with a TD and an interception. Vernon Davis caught an 8-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to give San Francisco some momentum. After a home rout of New Orleans on Monday night, the Seahawks were trying to make it two mammoth wins over NFC powers in seven days. They hurt themselves several times down the stretch. Golden Tate helped put the Seahawks ahead midway through the fourth quarter with a 38-yard punt return. Wilson then hit Jermaine Kearse for a 14-yard gain and first down from the 24. But on third down from the 13, Wilson was forced to throw out of bounds under pressure. Seattle settled for Steven Hauschkas 31-yard field goal that stayed just inside the left upright with 6:20 remaining. While Lynch went over 1,000 yards rushing for the third straight season and fifth in his seven-year career, he slowed down in the second half. He wound up with 72 yards on 20 carries -- just 22 yards in the second half -- as the 49ers defence kept intact its streak of not allowing a 100-yard rusher this season. "Its December and were playing our best football," linebacker NaVorro Bowman said. "Theres something about this game that required a full 60 minutes of football." Kaepernick recovered from an interception late in the third quarter with the 49ers deep in Seattle territory. Momentarily helped by Donte Whitners 15-yard taunting penalty against Lynch, it came right back three plays later on Michael Robinsons facemask flag and Seattle punted. With LaMichael James catching the punt, OBrien Schofield bumped James and received a 15-yard fair catch interference penalty. That started San Franciscos drive at the 48 but the 49ers went three and out. The Seahawks had won seven in a row since an Oct. 6 loss at Indianapolis. They also had taken their last two meetings with the 49ers, both at home, by outscoring San Francisco 71-16 -- 29-3 in Week 2. Boldin had six catches for 93 yards for his fourth straight game with at least five receptions. Now, the Niners realize they probably will have to make another trip to the Pacific Northwest and get by the Seahawks to return to the Super Bowl. "If we keep doing our thing and they keep doing their thing, no question," Gore said. NOTES: Seattle coach Pete Carroll expects LB K.J. Wright to miss six weeks with a broken bone in his foot. ... The 49ers didnt target CB Richard Sherman until 9:44 remaining in the second quarter and the incompletion still drew a 5-yard holding penalty and automatic first down. ... Seahawks C Max Unger sustained a second-half chest injury. China Made Jerseys . After Andrew Romine served up two monster home runs in the inning, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he thought Romine was one of the bright spots on the night, showing just how bad the series opener against the last-place Minnesota Twins went for the Tigers.WASHINGTON -- As he nears the end of his rookie season, Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler has talked lately about being tired. On Saturday night, he made the Washington Nationals look listless. Wheeler pitched effectively into the seventh inning and New York piled up a season-high 17 hits in routing the Nationals 11-3. Wheeler (7-3) allowed two runs and five hits in 6 2-3 innings, striking out three and walking one. Since the start of July, the touted rookie is 6-2 with a 2.96 ERA. "Because hes throwing strikes," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Hes not trying to strike people out. With the great arm that he had, people were looking for that and I think when he got up here he thought he had to do that." Eric Young Jr., Daniel Murphy, Josh Satin and Juan Lagares had three hits apiece for New York, which scored 11 runs for the second time in three days and won its third straight. The news wasnt all good for the injury-riddled Mets, though. Ike Davis left with a strained muscle on his right side after hitting a sacrifice fly in the third, and Collins said the first baseman is probably done for the season. The Nationals, who dropped 7 1/2 games behind Cincinnati for the second NL wild card, have lost the first two games of the series. Denard Span had three hits for Washington, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. Dan Haren (8-12) allowed seven runs and nine hits in 2 2-3 innings, his shortest start of the season. The Mets have won 10 of Wheelers 14 starts, and he improved to 5-0 with a 2.19 ERA on the road. Wheeler allowed two runs in the sixth but went back out for the seventh, getting the first two outs before he gave up a single and was pulled after 99 pitches. "(I) also know what hes saying about getting a little tired," Collins said. "Hes the one who came in after the sixth inning and said he wanted to go back out there. I said, Then stop telling everybody youre tired, and you will get back out there." Wheeler responded, "My (velocity) is not up so obviously Im a little tired, but once you get out there and get going, you dont even know about it." The win was tempered by the loss of Davis, who was demoted to the minors in June. Now, hes likely headed to the disabled list. "I doubt we see him," Collins said. "I feel terrible for Ike. He went to the minor leagues. He worked very hard on some things. Caame back, started to see some signs . China Jerseys Custom. and 2013s going to go down as a real frustrating year for Ike Davis." Davis hit .290 (20 for 69) in August. Haren, who had been pitching well since a stint on the DL, has given up 11 earned runs over 9 2-3 innings in his last two starts. "I tried to battle, but it seemed like everything they put in play was a hit," Haren said. The Mets got two in the second. With one out, Travis dArnaud and Lagares singled. After Haren fanned Matt den Dekker, Omar Quintanilla hit a drive to right-centre just beyond the reach of a diving Span for a two-run double. In the third, the Mets sent 11 batters to the plate. Young led off with a single, stole second and scored on a single by Murphy. With Murphy running, Satin singled to left, putting runners on first and third. Davis drove in Murphy with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. After dArnaud singled, Lagares singled to right, and Jayson Werths throw to the plate cut down Satin. But den Dekker followed with his first major league hit, a single that scored dArnaud and ended Harens night. Consecutive walks, the second one to Wheeler, forced in a run, and Young capped the inning with a two-run single to make it 8-0. "Everything that could go wrong in the second and third inning did," Nationals manager Davey Johnson said. Washington got two back in the sixth on Werths sacrifice fly and Ian Desmonds RBI single. NOTES: Lucas Duda replaced Davis at first base. New York also is missing All-Star third baseman David Wright, closer Bobby Parnell and several starting pitchers due to injuries -- including young ace Matt Harvey. ... Desmond added his 34th double of the season, a career high. ... Johnson was back in the dugout one night after leaving in the fourth inning due to dehydration. ... Johnson said he would speak to Bryce Harper regarding Harper not hustling after hitting a grounder to second in the eighth inning of Friday nights 3-2 loss. Johnson added that Harper might be favouring his left knee, which he injured earlier this year. Harper missed 31 games due to bursitis in the knee and Johnson said minor off-season surgery to remove a bursa sac is an option. ... Young stole a base for the fourth straight game. ... New York, NY (SportsNetwork. John Gerak Jersey Online .com) - Kentucky maintained its lofty status as the unanimous top-ranked team in mens college basketball, while the first week of conference play helped shake up the bottom of the new poll. Seton Hall, VCU, Arkansas and Old Dominion are newcomers to this weeks rankings, replacing Washington, Northern Iowa, Colorado State and Georgetown. Kentucky was off last week and will start conference play Tuesday at home against Ole Miss. The Wildcats received all 64 first-place votes to remain an undisputed choice at the top of the poll for a fifth straight week. Duke, Virginia, Wisconsin and Louisville remained unchanged from last week, while the remainder of the top 10 features Gonzaga, Arizona, Villanova, Utah and Texas. Villanova dipped two spots from sixth after suffering its first loss of the season on Saturday against Seton Hall. The second 10 consists of Maryland, Kansas, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Wichita State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, North Carolina, Seton Hall and VCU. Iowa State tumbled eight spots from ninth after a Saturday loss to South Carolina. Seton Hall not only knocked off Villanova, but also topped a ranked St. Johns squad last week to secure its spot in the rankings for the first time this year. VCU was ranked earlier this season, but fell out after late November losses to Villanova and Old Dominion. The last five teams ranked this week are Baylor, Ohio State, Arkansas, St. Johns and Old Dominion. St. Johns had the biggest fall within the poll, plummeting nine places from 15th after losses to Seton Hall and Butler. Arkansas was also ranked earlier this season, while Old Dominion is in the poll for the first time in the programs history. The Monarchs, playing in Conference USA, have won nine straight games. Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork. Air Max Plus 97 Sale .com) - LaMarcus Aldridges 23 points and 11 rebounds led the Portland Trail Blazers to another victory, a 98-86 triumph over lowly Detroit that extended the Pistons losing streak to 13 games. Wesley Matthews chipped in 19 points to Portlands fifth consecutive win overall and seventh straight on the road. Damian Lillard and Chris Kaman each finished with 14 points for the Blazers. Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond each recorded double-doubles in Detroits latest setback, the Pistons 10th in a row at home. Monroe tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds, with Drummond racking up 15 boards to go along with 10 points. The Pistons 13-game skid is the franchises longest since it also dropped 13 straight from Dec. 15-Jan. 11 of the 2009-10 season. A strong finish to the first quarter helped spring Portland to this win, as the Blazers closed out the period on an 11-4 run to open up a 33-22 lead. Kaman deposited six points during the flurry, which Aldridge capped by burying a triple just prior to the buzzer. Five straight points from Allen Crabbe had Portland up 42-27 early in the second quarter, and the Trail Blazers maintained a double-digit advantage for much of the frame before settling for a 55-46 lead at the break. Portland steadily extended the margin during the third quarter and held an 81-64 lead early in the fourth, when Detroit suddenly came storming back to put the outcome in doubt. The Pistons ripped off 13 consecutive points, with Monroe delivering six and Caron Butler four during the surge, and closed within 81-77 when the latter fed Monroe for a layup with 7:21 left. Detroit came up empty on its next two possessions, though, as Portland scored seven of the next nine points and went up by an 88-79 count on a Lillard trey with just over five minutes to go. A hook shot by Aldrige that was followed by Nicolas Batums triple with 2:24 remaining put the Pistons away, with Batums shot giving the Blazers a 96-86 lead. I see a true belief that were going to win every week.Since Week 8 of last season, Arizona is 14-3, the best record in the NFL in that span.In the tough NFC West, the Cardinals are two games up on reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle (5-3) and three up on San Francisco (4-4).But that means little if things start to fall apart.Cardinals coaches have told the players that the only thing thats guaranteed now is a 7-9 final record. We have coaches that remind us that it could go downhill real fast, defensive lineman Dan Williams said.Arizona has won four in a row, the latest a 28-17 victory Sunday over the Cowboys, snapping a string of 14 straight regular-season losses in Dallas. The streak dated to 1989, when Troy Aikman was a rookie and Jimmy Johnson was in his first season as Cowboys coach. The Cardinals spotted the Cowboys a 10-0 lead, then scored 28 in a row before giving up a meaningless touchdown in the final moments, the only TD for the Dallas offence all day.Its another resilient day at the office basically for our guys, Arians said. With Dallas quarterback Tony Romo out with a back injury, the Cardinals zeroed in on Demarco Murray, holding him to 79 yards in 19 carries — the first time hes gained fewer than 100 yards this season. That allowed Arizona to focus on disrupting backup quarterback Brandon Weeden, who completed 18 of 33 for 183 yards and was intercepted twice — first by Tyrann Mathieu, then by Antonio Cromartie.Honestly, right now our confidence is through the roof, cornerback Patrick Peterson said. No matter who we step on the fieeld with or what the scenario is, we feel we are the best team on the football field. Air Max Plus 97 Cheap. . We spotted them 10 points, we didnt blink.Williams had a team-high seven tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss in what Arians called a fantastic game, maybe his best game as a Cardinal since Ive been here.Peterson, criticized in recent weeks for not playing up to his usual high standards, held Dez Bryant without a catch until the final two minutes.I thought Patrick had his best game in a long, long time, Arians said.Carson Palmer threw just his second interception of the season, and Dallas rookie Tyler Patmon returned it 58 yards for an early touchdown. But the Arizona quarterback went on to throw for three touchdowns — his sixth consecutive multiple-TD game. He finished 22 of 34 for 249 yards. The interception was only the Cardinals sixth turnover of the season, tied for fewest in the league. They are plus-10 in turnover margin, second to New Englands plus-12. Their two interceptions thrown are the fewest in the NFL and their 12 interceptions are tied with Buffalo for most in the league. The Cardinals are 5-0 this season with Palmer starting. He has thrown for 11 touchdowns and has won 12 of his last 14 starts, dating to last season.Andre Ellington outgained Dallas Murray, rushing for 95 yards in 21 carries. He also caught four passes for 39 yards.Still, Arians said the offence was hit and miss, as it has been all season. The Cardinals offence has played its best in the fourth quarter, when they have outscored opponents 70-34. Against Dallas, they scored two fourth-quarter TDs to go up 28-10 before Dallas got its late score.Arizona completed a sweep of the NFC East and is 5-0 against conference foes. Our guys are finding ways to win, especially in the fourth quarter, Arians said. We may stink it up for three quarters offensively, but all of a sudden when its crunch time we score. Thats learning how to win.___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

Hale (1-0) has a 2.31 ERA in four starts but could lose his spot in the rotation next week, when left-hander Mike Minor is expected to come off the disabled list. Hale, a rookie right-hander, had good command of his sinkerball as he made it difficult for the Braves to send him back to Triple-A Gwinnett. "I mean, obviously that stuff runs through my head," Hale said of keeping his spot in the rotation. "I try not to let it get too deep in there. My goal is to be here and do the best I can and let things fall the way they will, so well see what happens." Freddie Freeman, Justin Upton and Evan Gattis each homered off Cincinnatis Mike Leake (2-2). Hale gave up a walk and two hits, including Ryan Ludwicks run-scoring double, in the first inning. He didnt allow another hit over the next seven innings. "So he threw a no-hitter after that," Ludwick said. "He did an outstanding job. What did we have? Two hits? ... Not a whole lot of offence." Reds manager Bryan Price said Hale "just never really gave us a chance. He pitched really well. It was very impressive." Cincinnatis only other baserunner against Hale came on Jay Bruces leadoff walk in the fourth, and the Braves ended that inning with a double play. Craig Kimbrel closed the combined two-hitter -- a season low for the Reds -- for his eighth save. Kimbrel gave up a one-out walk to Joey Votto in the ninth before striking out Brandon Phillips and Bruce to end the game. Freeman hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Upton and Gattis hit back-to-back homers in the third. Upton, who also hit a homer in the Braves 5-4 win on Friday night, leads the team with seven. Ludwick reached over the left-field wall to take another homer away from Freeman in the third innning. China Jerseys Outlet. The three homers matched the most allowed in a game by Leake, who gave up four runs and eight hits in seven innings. Minor was projected as one of the teams top starters even before Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy had season-ending elbow injuries in spring training. Minor had urinary tract surgery on Dec. 31, which pushed back his spring schedule. He then developed shoulder soreness and was shut down in spring training. Before the game, Gonzalez brushed off Minors ugly numbers in what is expected to be his final minor league rehab appearance on Friday night for Double-A Mississippi at Pensacola. Gonzalez said a "howling" wind was a major factor as Minor gave up five runs and 10 hits, including four homers. Gonzalez said hell wait until after Minors next side session to announce any rotation changes for next week. After Hales dominant performance, Gonzalez wouldnt be drawn into a discussion on how hell find a spot for Minor. "Let me enjoy the day, and well talk about it in the morning," Gonzalez said. The Reds held out third baseman Todd Frazier after he left Friday nights game with tightness in his left leg. Price said Frazier probably could have played and likely will miss only one game. Neftali Soto was 0-for-3 in his first career start as Fraziers replacement. NOTES: The Cincinnati Reds placed C Devin Mesoraco on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. The team recalled C Tucker Barnhart from Triple-A Louisville. ... Leake also allowed three homers against Pittsburgh on July 19, 2013. ... Reds LHP Aroldis Chapman, on the DL with facial fractures after he was hit by a line drive on March 19, threw 43 pitches in batting practice. He is scheduled to throw another simulated game on Tuesday in Cincinnati before beginning a rehab stint in the minors. ... B.J. Uptons infield single in the first was his 1,000th career hit. ... The Braves released Triple-A Gwinnett first baseman Ernesto Mejia after reaching a deal for him to play with Japans Seibu Lions. ... The series ends Sunday with Atlantas Julio Teheran facing Johnny Cueto in a matchup of right-handers with ERAs under 2.00. ' ' '

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Wholesale Blackhawks Jerseys . -- Even after a lengthy replay, Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire still thinks the call was wrong. No worry. When he was ejected for arguing the play in the third inning Tuesday night, it gave him a nice vantage point -- a flat-screen TV and a comfy chair in the clubhouse -- to see Kyle Gibson shut down the Kansas City Royals for seven innings in a tense 2-1 victory. The play in question was Chris Parmelees sinking liner to left field that Alex Gordon appeared to trap while sliding. The umpires ruled it a catch, though, likely saving a run. Gardenhire quickly challenged it, only to be incensed when a review of 3 minutes, 31 seconds let it stand. A nose-to-nose confrontation with plate umpire Ted Barrett resulted in him getting tossed. "Honestly, I know youre not supposed to go out there. I just wanted to find out how that happened," Gardenhire said. "Thats the part a lot of managers are trying to figure out, what did they see? I know they dont want it to go any longer, but its gone on long enough. "I was just looking for an explanation. He threw me out really quick. He was really hot." Gibson was hot in an entirely different way. He allowed a single by Alcides Escobar in the third inning and another by Nori Aoki in the sixth over seven dazzling innings. Gibson (9-8) was at his best his last inning, too, setting down the Royals in order in the seventh on four seemingly effortless pitches. "I had a great view for it," Gardenhire said with a smile. Casey Fien worked the eighth before Glen Perkins ran into trouble in the ninth, giving up a leadoff double to Omar Infante and an RBI single to Eric Hosmer. Perkins bounced back to get three straight pop outs and record his 26th save of the season. "The loss is frustrating in general. It doesnt matter how it is," the Royals Billy Butler said. "Its not fun to lose, especially in a 2-1 game like that. We should have put up more runs." Josh Willingham hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning and Brian Dozier provided a run-scoring single in the fifth off James Shields (9-6), who battled command all night. He threw 124 pitches -- two shy of his career high -- while walking four in only six innings. Gibson, who was shelled by Tampa Bay his last time out, has made a habit of rebounding back from ugly outings. He followed a miserable performance against the Angels with a strong one against Texas, and a lousy start against the Yankees with six shutout innings against Seattle. "I dont know what it was tonight," he said. "I just had a lot of confidence." ROAD WARRIORS: The Twins have won six of their last seven on the road dating to July 8, a good omen considering their upcoming schedule. After two more in Kansas City, the Twins play three at the White Sox. They have two at home against San Diego followed by six more on the road. PROUD PAPA: The Twins played short-handed while outfielder Oswaldo Arcia spent time with his family following the birth of his baby boy. Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Arcia declined to take paternity leave and plans to arrive in Kansas City for Wednesdays game. TRAINERS ROOM Twins: Catcher Joe Mauer (strained right oblique) swung in the batting cage and plans to hit live batting practice Wednesday. Right-hander Ricky Nolasco (sore elbow) also felt good after a bullpen session. He plans to throw another one Thursday. Royals: Hosmer was back in the lineup after missing six of the past seven starts with a bruised right hand, while left-hander Jason Vargas (appendectomy) also reported no problems after a four-inning simulated game. "Today went well," Vargas said. ON DECK Twins: Right-hander Phil Hughes (10-7) will make his first start since leaving a game July 24 against the White Sox with a bruised right shin. Royals: Left-hander Danny Duffy (5-10) threw seven shutout innings his last time out against Cleveland, only to get stuck with a no-decision. Blackhawks Jerseys 2021 . NEW YORK -- Surgery, suspensions and thuggery. Cheap Vans Shoes . The storylines surrounding the Eastern Conference final reached Shakespearean proportions Friday. As he was in Game 3 Thursday night, Montreal fourth-liner Brandon Prust was slap bang in the middle of the mayhem. What had seemed like a quiet off-day quickly turned dramatic when New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault revealed that forward Derek Stepan, laid out by an unpenalized blindside hit from Prust two minutes 45 seconds into the game, had suffered a broken jaw that needed surgery. Three hours later, Rangers agitator Dan Carcillo was suspended 10 games for physical abuse of an official on a play that came minutes after the Prust hit, as New York looked for retribution. The Carcillo incident came 5:51 into Thursdays game after a fight between Derek Dorsett of the Rangers and Prust. Carcillo, a fourth-liner, had been penalized for charging Prust on the play. The league said Carcillo "physically applied force to linesman Scott Driscoll while being escorted to the penalty box." The suspension was automatic under category 2 of Rule 40.3, titled Physical Abuse of Officials. Prust, meanwhile, was handed a two-game suspension for interference for the Stepan hit later Friday. It has added more drama to a series that saw Montreals all-world goalie Carey Price sent to the sidelines in Game 1 after coming out the worst for wear in a collision with six-foot-three, 230-pound Ranger Chris Kreider. For Vigneault, the missed Prust call Thursday set off a domino effect whose ripples were still being felt the next day. "Four referees missed the call," Vigneault said. "Stepan is injured. The same player that called the hit on Price accidental but on purpose. Late hit, everything that you want to get out of the game, that was his hit on Stepan. "And what saddens me about that hit is, if the call is made on the ice, were on a five-minute power play, and what happened to Dan Carcillo, and what Dan did is inexcusable, and hes going to pay a big price for it, but if the call is made on the ice, hes not put in that position. "So its unfortunate. Step (Stepan) right now at this time is probably getting operated on. He broke his jaw (Thursday), so well have an idea of the time frame (Saturday). But those are stuff that happens during the game that you have to deal with, and thats what were going to try to do." Dressed in jeans and flip-flops, Vigneault looked like he was in relaxation mode. But he was clearly irate at a sequence of events which he believes could have been avoided. Stepan went briefly to the dressing room after the hit, yelling over his shoulder at Prust as he exited. But he returned later in the period and amazingly played a total of 17:45 in the game. A team spokesman said X-rays that night were negative. But Stepan was in pain and saw a specialist Friday, when further tests detected the broken jaw. It seems unlikely that Stepan, who centres Rick Nash and Kreider on the Rangers top line, will be back any time soon. New York leads the series to two games to one. Prust, a former Ranger who counts Canadian UFC lightweight Sam (Hands of Stone) Stout as a friend, was not made available Friday as both teams, skipping practice in advance of Game 4 Sunday, offered up their coaches and select players. Montreal coach Michel Therrien defended his player. "His intention was not to hurt anyone," he said. "Like Kreider, his intention, even if he was going hard to the net and then laying on Carey Price, Im sure his intention was not to hurt Carey Price. Brandon Prust, he tried to finish his check. His intention, honestly, was not to hurt Stepan." Then Therrien suggested the Canadiens knew better than anybody about losing a star player. "If there is a team that can understand the loss of a player, its us. We lost Carey Price in the first game of the series with the hit on Kreider when he hit Carey Price, and we felt frustrated at the time. Were still frustrated not having our goalie, our No. 1 most important player." Therrien, taking a page from Vigneaults book from the Price injury debate, called it "a hockey hit." Habs forward David Desharnais called it a clean hit, with Prust just wanting to get his team going. "You never want to see a guy injured like that but, like I said, we were fighting for our lives (Thursday) and we wanted to set the tone," he said. At five foot seven, Desharnais is one of the Hobbit-like Canadiens. But the first-liner wins praise from his coach for his compete level. And he knows the value of getting under an opponents skin, as Prust clearly did in Game 3. "They were not happy about it," he said of the Rangers. "Everybody got a little chirp here and there and the game was on." A day later, the Rangers still wanted justice. "I think guys were unhappy there wasnt a call on the play," Kreider told reporters. "Obviously, it was away from the play so not a lot of people saw it. But I think the sentiment today is the same as it was yesterday, that it wasnt a clean hit. Hopefully the league deals with it justly." Vans Shoes Sale .Y. -- That hangover from the Big East tournament is gone for Villanova. Vans Slip On Sale . In the college game the head coach is like a CEO of a major company who oversees his program and deals with recruiting, scheduling, budgets, academics, fundraising, alumni relations, public and media relations, speaking, mentoring and the spotlight of being a major public figure. On the traditional college campus the basketball coach along with the president and the football and/or baseball or hockey coach are the most recognizable and significant figures when it comes to publicity and fundraising. These four Final Four coaches not only can coach/recruit/lead but they are wonderful ambassadors for their schools. Here is a quick thought on each guy. 1. BO RYAN (Wisconsin): Teams are always really sound on both sides of the Ball. Gets great effort out of his guys. Crisp ball movement on offence with great role definition and ultra stingy defence. They protect the paint beautifully. Sound in all areas. 2 KEVIN OLLIE (UCONN): Thrilled for him. Jim Calhoun really wanted him to have this job and he has delivered. After being unable to play in the tournament last year hes gotten his team to grow and mature from the challenges of last season and improvve to the point of being an elite team. Vans Shoes Clearance. Takes a special guy to replace a legend and get the program on track and hes done it wonderfully. Team is tenacious in its effort and they really feed off of his energy. They are organized and smartly play to their strength - their guards. 3. JOHN CALIPARI (Kentucky): This guy gets a bad rap. Yes he can really recruit but hes a terrific teacher, motivator, tactician and leader. Ive known John for over 30 years and have seen him rise from being a graduate assistant at Kansas to now. Awesome jobs done at UMass, Memphis and now with the Wildcats. Brought this talented young group along with tough love and a velvet touch as well. Its all about getting your team to peak at the right time and hes been masterful at that throughout his fine career. 4. BILLY DONOVAN (Florida): Attention to detail and innovative. Adapts well to his teams talent and skill level. Two NCAA championships already and this current group of experienced players are close knit due to his vision. His defensive schemes are sound and disruptive to opponents. His offence is guard oriented and they dont beat themselves. Has made the Florida job (at a football school) one of the elite basketball jobs in college hoops due to his sustained success. ' ' '

The Ottawa Senators are looking to find some consistency as they travel to Tampa Bay Thursday night, with the Lightning hoping to break out of their scoring slump of their own. Jon McGlocklin Jersey . The Senators snapped a two-game slide on Tuesday with a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers. They allowed the first two goals of the game, both on Panther power plays, before getting first-period goals from Joe Corvo and Erik Condra to even things up. Colin Greening had the go-ahead goal with 43 seconds remaining in the second period and Bobby Ryan added a third-period tally. Though Ottawa won for just the third time in its past nine games, it was a win that head coach Paul MacLean is hoping his team can build on. "Were showing signs of being consistent," he said. Craig Anderson made 30 saves and Clarke MacArthur had two assists to give him 10 points over his last eight games. The win improved Anderson to just 7-8-2 with a 3.42 goals against average this season, but he is 6-2-2 with a 1.42 GAA and three shutouts lifetime versus the Lightning. The Bolts won two of three versus the Senators last season -- winning both meetings in Tampa -- but the Sens have still won seven of the last 10 encounters overall. The Lightning have been shut out in back-to-back games and in three of their last five. Two of those have come by 1-0 decisions, including Tuesdays setback to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tampa Bay failed to score against the Blue Jackets Sergei Bobrovsky, who left with 15:47 to play in the game, or Curtis McElhinney. The duo combined to stop 26 shots. "If youre not frustrated, something is wrong with you right now," said Martin St. Louis, who was robbed by McElhinney on a late chance. The Lightning have lost six of their last eight games overall and five in a row on the road. They are 4-5-1 since star center Steven Stamkos broke his leg. Tampa Bay, which was coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Pittsburgh last Friday, has not scored since Tyler Johnsons empty-net tally with 34 seconds left in a 4-2 win over Philadelphia last Friday. It has not scored against an opposing netminder since Victor Hedmans tally five minutes into the third period versus the Flyers. "If its not off the rush, were done," St. Louis said. "We have to be able to sustain offensive pressure." Ben Bishop made 20 saves versus the Blue Jackets and could face his former club tonight. Bishops only other meeting versus the Senators came on April 9 of last season, six days after he was traded to the Lightning by Ottawa for Cory Conacher and a draft pick. Bishop stopped 31-of-33 shots faced in the win. Alex English Jersey . The Ravens werent about to let it happen again. A person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press on Saturday that Cruz will earn about $8.5 million, and can make more in performance bonuses. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract wasnt complete. Other media outlets had reported a deal was in place. The 33-year-old Cruz was suspended 50 games last year while with the Texas Rangers as a result of Major League Baseballs investigation into the Biogenesis drug scandal. He returned from the penalty in time to play one game -- he went 0 for 4 in the Rangers loss to Tampa Bay in a tiebreaker for the second AL wild-card spot. Baltimore began full-squad workouts at spring training earlier this week, and Cruz was among the last prominent free agents to find a team. Manager Buck Showalters team opened camp still in need of a designaated hitter, preferably someone to join big league home run champion Chris Davis in the lineup. Oscar Robertson Jersey. Cruz may well find the cozy dimensions at Camden Yards to his liking -- he is a career .333 hitter with two homers and nine RBIs in 81 at-bats at the ballpark. Baltimore signed Delmon Young to a minor league contract in the off-season, and also was looking at free agent Kendrys Morales. Cruz, a two-time All-Star in the outfield, is expected to become Baltimores DH. If so, he could be the Orioles 12th different opening day DH in 12 years. Cruz hit .266 with 27 homers and 76 RBIs in 109 games last year. Hes averaged 27 homers in the last five seasons. The Orioles finished 85-77 last season, a year after they made their first playoff appearance since 1997. Danny Valencia was most often in the DH spot, starting 38 times and hitting .304 overall with eight homers and 23 RBIs. Baltimore traded Valencia to Kansas City for David Lough in December. ' ' '

TORONTO -- Over the years, the Toronto Raptors have heard all about the perceived disadvantages of NBA life north of the border. Discount Vapormax . The complaints have run the gamut -- from the long, snowy winters, to concerns about taxes to the lack of ESPN on cable TV. Instead of playing defence when it comes to perception, the franchise is going on the offensive. The Great White North is embraced and the Ontario capital takes centre stage in the teams new "We The North" campaign, which features a 60-second video that kicks off a massive franchise rebrand over the next two years. "This is the statement we want to make to Canada and I think this is the chip we have, which is were the north and theres no one else," Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment president Tim Leiweke said Wednesday from New York. "Its just us and everyone looks past us. But were OK with that now." The video is not meant to be an advertisement for a team preparing to make its first playoff appearance in six years. Instead, the franchise wants the spot and the campaign to serve as a foundation for a team revolution. "This is a crusade now," Leiweke said. "This is not just a rally cry, this is, I think, our identity. "I think thats what we like about this is for the next two to three years, this is who we are and this is who we represent and this is who we fight for." The team is still finalizing release plans for other components of the campaign. However, new colours and a new logo will be rolled out "in short order," Leiweke said. Toronto hip-hop artist Drake was "heavily involved" in the inspiration for the spot, and Leiweke said the teams global ambassador was also involved in logo plans and the decision to stick with the Raptors name. "He thinks that the Vince Carter generation, those kids that grew up and got inspired by Vince, these are now the (Anthony) Bennetts of the world and the (Andrew) Wiggins of the world," Leiweke said. "And they relate to the Raptors in a very different way than that Barney dinosaur or Jurassic Park marketing campaign. "Now this is a cultural thing and Drake said, Stick to it and just define your culture and make it you." In the video, clips of the city skyline are mixed with snippets of basketball action from local neighbourhoods and highlights of the Raptors in action. "And far from the east side, miles from the west side, nowhere near the south side, we are the north side," a narrator says in the piece. "A territory all our own. And if that makes us outsiders -- were in." "My favourite shot is the kid bouncing the basketball through the field of ice," Leiweke said. "And its like, Thats it right there. Thats what we want. People dont understand we have a revolution going on in Canada. Were producing great players. Weve got kids inspired that are playing the sport in record numbers. We have the highest growth level in North America. "We are a team that suddenly people are rallying around and are excited about. And by the way, all of our guys love playing for Canada and were it. Weve got 35 million people. No one has 35 million people in their marketplace." It has been a remarkable rebound season for a franchise that has been hamstrung by mediocrity. Toronto opened the current campaign with a poor 6-12 record but things turned around last December after Rudy Gay was dealt to Sacramento in a seven-player trade. The Raptors were energized by the move and have been one of the strongest teams in the Eastern Conference since. Toronto recently clinched the Atlantic Division title and took a 48-33 record into the regular-season finale Wednesday night in New York. The Raptors turnaround has been a pleasant surprise in a city where post-season action in any of the major sports is a rarity. Fans are still stinging from the Toronto Maple Leafs late-season collapse that cost them a playoff spot this year. The NHL club has made the post-season just once in the last decade. Down the road at Rogers Centre, it has been over 20 years since the Toronto Blue Jays last made the playoffs. The Blue Jays are coming off a last-place finish in the American League East division and are not expected to contend this year. The Raptors will take a page from the hockey teams playbook by hosting a "Party in the Square" in Maple Leaf Square outside Air Canada Centre for playoff games this spring. It was a hotspot last year during the Maple Leafs first-round playoff series with the Boston Bruins. Ticket demand also appears to be quite high for Canadas lone NBA team. Torontos average playoff ticket price is $125. However, a recent Forbes website report said the Raptors have the highest average playoff ticket price ($370.62) on the secondary market. "To me its less about what people are paying on the secondary (market) and more about we have a greater demand for NBA playoff tickets than any market today in the NBA," Leiweke said. "So out of those 16 markets, right now Toronto is the hot ticket. I think that bodes well." Toronto has reached the NBA playoffs on five previous occasions, the most recent being a first-round loss to the Orlando Magic in 2008. The Raptors lone series victory came in 2001 when they beat the New York Knicks before falling to the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round. On Tuesday, the star questioned whether that was still the case. Speaking to reporters at a charity event, Johnson said: "I just kind of wonder sometimes: Is this still the place for me?" Johnsons comments came after he was asked why he recently skipped a voluntary minicamp.Northern Ontarios Tracy Horgan will make Canadian womens curling history next month.Kerry Galusha of the Northwest Territories and the Yukons Sarah Koltun will too. The three skips will be representing new team entries at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask. The addition of a Northern Ontario rink is a first for the annual womens national championship. It was one of several changes instituted by the Canadian Curling Association as part of a plan to allow equal event access to all of its member associations. In addition, there will no longer be just one team representing the Canadian territories at the Scotties. The Northwest Territories and the Yukon will now have separate entries. Nunavut could have entered a team as well but declined. The changes mean Horgan, from Sudbury, Ont., didnt have to win the Ontario playdowns in order to book her ticket for the nationals, like she did in her last Scotties appearance in 2012. The 28-year-old skip, a three-time Northern Ontario junior womens champion, beat Kendra Lilly last weekend to advance. Now this is kind of back to what were used to, Horgan said in a recent interview. Well be wearing the green and gold colours and were comfortable with that. For Galusha and Koltun, the changes mean they both get to go to Moose Jaw.The only rub for all three skips is they still have one last hurdle to clear. Theyll square off in a three-team round-robin qualifier at Mosaic Place with the winner to reach the 12-team main draw. The qualifying event begins Feb. 12 and the final play-in game will be held during Draw 1 of main draw competition two days later. The event continues through to the medal games on Feb. 22.The inclusion of a Northern Ontario rink brings the womens event in line with other national competitions. The Tim Hortons Brier — the mens national championship — is also mirroring a longtime Scotties tradition this year by including a Team Canada entry for the first time. The changes took root in 2010, when the CCA unveiled its Equitable Opportunity to Access Canadian Championships system. The goal was to create a system that would offer a fair, equal chance for curlers to access national events. Two years later, the CCAs 14 member associations approved the final implementaation phase, which resulted in the adjustments this season. Air Max 90 Australia. For 2016, the team that finishes at the bottom of the overall standings at the 2015 Scotties will have to go through the qualification round with this years round-robin losers and Nunavut, if the territory decides to participate. We think the model is now fair, it is now sound, and it will be great to see some of the results on the ice where as I say, every single game is meaningful, said CCA chief executive officer Greg Stremlaw. Not just for those that want to win and go on to podium excellence and represent Canada worldwide, but for those that dont want to face qualification in years ahead. The non-traditional setup offers pros and cons for the three teams in the qualifier. They have the unusual pressure of needing to peak right from the start in order to get a spot in the main draw. The qualifier winner will also have the advantage of two extra days of competition on arena ice, although that could leave them more fatigued by the end of the week. I cant even tell you what Im expecting from it, Galusha said. Im just kind of rolling with it right now.For the round-robin losers, its a long trip to Moose Jaw for just a few games of action. Its also difficult for the teams to feel like theyre actually part of the Scotties until they advance to the main draw.If youre looking at the whole Scotties event, that itself is a marathon — but weve got to do the sprint first, Koltun said. Thats what we have to focus on right away, to try to do our best right off the bat.So its definitely a little bit different.Ottawas Rachel Homan is back to defend her title. Lauren Mann will skip the Quebec entry and Heather Strong will represent Newfoundland and Labrador. The other provincial representatives have yet to be finalized.Notes: The schedule for the 2015 Ford world mens curling championship has been released. OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Gee-Gees were the only team in Canada to beat Carleton this season. The Ravens werent about to let it happen again. Carleton picked up its fourth straight national mens basketball title, and 10th in the last 12 years, with a 79-67 victory over its crosstown rival on Sunday. "Ottawa is a good team, you have to give them credit," said Carletons Tyson Hinz, who was named the tournaments most valuable player. "Thats by far the best team Ive played in my five years here." The Gee-Gees upset the Ravens last week in the Ontario University Association final. That just riled up the most successful CIS basketball team of the last 12 years. "It was pretty easy to get motivated after a loss," said Hinz, who led all scorers with 30 points. "Im so happy for the guys. Im happy we got the win." In addition to Hinz, the Ravens had solid contributions from Thomas and Philip Scrubb who had 20 and 16 points respectively. "The fact that they beat us was really motivating," said Philip Scrubb. "We just tried to focus on our team and what we had to do to win." Ravens head coach Dave Smart has been at the helm for all ten championships and has created one of Canadas greatest basketball legacies. "Every year its a different group of guys," said Smart. "These guys are special kids. Its been a long year. You guys see the wins and losses, but theres been a lot of ups and downs." Smart is known as a brilliant coach and many wonder how long before he chooses to expand his horizons, but the Ravens coach says hes happy where he is. "Even if someone offered me ridiculous money it would be a family decision," said Smart. "I know I would go into a situation coaching wise and program wise that would be worse. I have a great situation here and you have to look at it professionally, but you also have to look at your family. The point of me saying that was I aint leaving." The win was the Ravens fourth consecutive championship, but it didnt come easily. The Ottawa Gee-Gees came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and advanced to the final for the first time in program history. The final score was hardly indicative of the battle that was fought all afternoon. The Ravens led by two, 16-14, after the first quarter, but the early half of the second belonged to the Gee-Gees as they pulled away with a six-point lead. The Ravens regained control on the back of Hinz, who had 13 points in the firrst half. Bruins Jerseys 2020. The Ravens again led by two at the half, 37-35, but as so often has been the case this season the third quarter was where Carleton was at its best, jumping out to a 58-49 lead. "It was a tough third quarter for us," said Ottawa head coach James Derouin. "Carleton is sort of known for their quarter and coming out of halftime. We made a couple shots early in the quarter and I thought we had sort of sustained it, but the O-glass ended up killing us in the end. I think 29 second chance points and you just cant give a team this good that many second chance opportunities." The Gee-Gees made a valiant effort through the fourth, but the Ravens experience came through and they made the most of their opportunities at the free throw line. Carleton was 21-for-25 from the free throw line, while Ottawa was 8-for-11 which left the Gee-Gees coaching staff questioning a number of calls. Despite the loss, the Gee-Gees say they will look to grow from this experience and will use it as motivation for next season. "I just told them how proud I am of them," said Derouin. "They should be proud of the season they had. Our goal is to be back here next year. We were bronze last year, silver this year and hopefully that leads to a gold medal next year." Fourth-year forward Johnny Berhanemeskel led the Gee-Gees with 19 points. In the bronze medal game the University of Alberta Golden Bears defeated the No. 4 Victoria Vikes 61-53 Sunday morning. It was a quick turnaround for the Canada West rivals, who both lost in Saturday nights semifinals and also lost an hour of sleep thanks to daylight savings time. "I dont think either team was excited about playing with the time change in the bronze medal game," said Golden Bears head coach Barnaby Craddock, whose troops defeated Victoria 82-77 in the conference final last weekend. Alberta took control early on jumping out to a 25-4 lead after the first quarter. Victorias offence rebounded in the second quarter as they outscored Alberta 17-15, but it wasnt enough as Alberta led 40-21 at the half. The Vikes outscored the Golden Bears for the entire second half, but were unable to erase the advantage Alberta built up in the early going. Golden Bears star graduating forward Jordan Baker led his team with 16 points and eight assists in his final CIS game. Victorias fifth-year guard Terrell Evans finished his career leading the Vikes with a game-high 16 rebounds and 18 points. ' ' '

NEW YORK -- Zack Wheeler learned a couple things Sunday. Elfrid Payton Jersey . Pitching with a big, early lead is fun. And, its possible to work through an issue with his motion without losing rhythm on the mound. Both lessons helped the 24-year-old rising star breeze into the seventh inning, Anthony Recker hit a three-run homer in a five-run first and the New York Mets beat the Texas Rangers 8-4 for a series win. "Its a big thing for me because not always I was able to find it," Wheeler said of fixing a timing glitch in his mechanics. "It felt good to come back out there and compete." Lucas Duda had an RBI double and Juan Lagares a run-scoring single in the Mets biggest opening inning of the season, with all the runs scoring with two outs. New York then got only one hit off Nick Tepesch (3-4) until Kirk Nieuwenhuis led off the sixth with a long ball to right field. Daniel Murphys RBI double in the seventh made it 7-1, but reliever Gonzalez Germen allowed Alex Rios first homer in 46 games and Leonys Martins two-run drive before getting an out in the eighth. Ruben Tejada had an RBI single in the eighth to increase New Yorks lead to a four runs. "The kind of hit Ruben got in the eighth wins games," manager Terry Collins said. Jeurys Familia cleaned up for Gonzalez by getting the final two outs in the eighth and closer Jenrry Mejia pitched the ninth. The Mets needed five relievers to help send Texas to its sixth loss on a seven-game road trip that ended Sunday. "We still had a lot of baseball to play and we ended up doing that," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We just couldnt make up for the runs that they put on the board." Wheeler (4-8) had his second straight solid outing in an up-and-down season to help the Mets win for just the third time in 11 games. The lanky right-hander lasted 6 1-3 innings and gave up a run and six hits, including Robinson Chirinos second homer of the series. It was Wheelers first victory in his last 10 home starts. He is 1-6 over that span. "Weve got a young pitcher on our hands whos going to be really, really good," Collins said. "Zack gets better each start. Today his velocity was consistent throughout the game." A day after Texas rode Chirinos three-run shot in a four-run first for a 5-3 victory, Recker put New York up 5-0 with a flyball that down the left-field line. "To put up five in the first inning is pretty cool," Recker said. Tepesch, whose start was pushed back twice last week and pitched nine days ago, was hurt by two walks in the first. Curtis Granderson walked leading off and, after Duda drove in his 12th run 15 games with a two-out double, Nieuwenhuis was walked to extend the inning for Lagares. Tejada walked after Reckers homer but Wheeler struck out. But Tepesch settled until Tejada had a one-out double in the fourth. In six innings, Tepesch allowed six runs and five hits. He walked four and struck out four. "Just tried to get back to just commanding it down in the zone and making good pitches down in the zone," Tepesch said of rebounding from the first. The 25-year-old Tepesch got his first big league hit in his fifth career at-bat, sending a bouncer past diving shortstop Tejada leading off the fifth. Tejada robbed Tepesch of a hit in the third inning with a diving catch. NOTES: The Mets have scored 60 runs in the first, their best inning this season. ... Looking to avenge the result of the 1950 World Cup when it hosted the tournament and lost in the final, Brazil has been handed a difficult route to the promise land in 2014. Air Force 1 Grey Cheap Outlet . After being pushed all the way to penalties in the round of 16 by a stout Chilean team, Brazil must now face a Colombia side that has emerged as one of the front-runners to win the competition. Listen to Brazil vs. Colombia LIVE today at 4pm et/1pm pt on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto, TSN 690 Montreal, TSN 1200 Ottawa and TEAM Vancouver 1410. While Brazil has the star power of Neymar, David Luiz and Oscar, Jose Pekerman is hoping that Colombias team-first approach can carry the nation to the semifinals, where it would face either France or Germany. "Sometimes a team with a lot of potential, if they dont find the result and they need to win, they cant play so brilliantly," Pekerman said of Brazil after beating Uruguay in the round of 16. "So the competition becomes interesting because a team with less individual stars can disturb the balance of the other team." Of course, Colombia is not void of stars itself. James Rodriguez has been the toast of the tournament thus far, producing stunning bits of play and coming up with five goals to sit atop the race for the Golden Boot. Brazil, though, has not hit its top gear just yet, and the host nation is looking forward to Fridays continental battle. "Theres no doubt that being continental rivals has a huge impact," Brazil defender Dani Alves told FIFAs official website. "Emotionally, theyre very tough games, because unlike European nations, we come up against each other all the time - in the Copa America, in World Cup qualifying. "In technical terms too, its a different style of football, though that side of things is changing. Football has evolved a lot and nearly all the best South American players are in Europe. Thats made the national teams here get even better and stronger. The games are still intense, with that South American flavor, but with more players used to always playing at the very highest level." The Brazilians see themselves as a team of destiny, and while many of the teams supporters are disappointed in the lack of beautiful football on display, Neymar has stressed that advancing beyond each round is whats truly important. "You cant always enjoy yourself and win 4-0 or 5-0," the Barcelona forward said in a press conference. "Football nowadays is so difficult, so even, that the team who is most committed on the pitch ends up winning. I dont want a show. Thats the last thing we are trying to do. We are not necessarily here to produce a spectacle. We are here to run to the end, until we are tired, and come out as winners. "I would be happy to do nothing in this game if Brazil won 1-0. It was game three of a five game road trip for the Jets. Ondrej Pavelec was back in goal after being injured in the opening period of the March 14 game against the New York Rangers. Jets were again minus Zach Bogosian because of injury, while Devin Setoguchi was again a healthy scratch. Mark Stuart, banged up late in the San Jose win, was back in the lineup. The Kings jumped on Pavelec early with Trevor Lewis squeezing one through the goalie at 2:42 to open the scoring. At 7:53, Anze Kopitar had one go in off his shin pads and after video review the goal stood and the Kings had a 2-0 lead. Kopitar would score his second of the game and 24th of the year at 17:37 as the Kings took a 3-0 lead to the dressing room. Shots at one time in the period were 12-4, and ended 16-11. Eric ODell and Matt Halischuk each had great chances on the same shift midway through the period, but neither could beat Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick. Al Montoya, who had started the last six games, started the second period, in what turned out to be a tighter checking frame. Jets did not give the Kings much room, but the Kings at the same time did not give the Jets much either. It was into the second half of the period before the Jets got their first shot on goal. Shots in the second period were 7-4 Los Angeles. By far the Jets best period was the third. With the Jets pressing for another and controlling the play, Kings Tyler Toffoli snapped one home at 4:59 to regain the three goal lead. Blake Wheeler with his team leading 26th got the Jets back to within two. Bryan Little and Dustin Byfuglien drew assists on the power play goal. Wheeler now has seven power play goals on the year. It was his 63rd point, one shy of his single season career high. The assist for Byfuglien was his 54th point of the year, a new single season high for points in a season. The Jets outshot the Kings 11-6 in the third but some big saves by Quick made the final 4-2. Jacob Trouba at 25:58 led the Jets in ice time, Byfuglien and Adam Pardy each had four shots on goal. Jets lost Keaton Ellerby to injury, with his status for Monday uncertain. Little took 17 face-offs and surpassed the 1500 mark in face-offs this season, a personal high for him. For Coach Paul Maurice, the slow start by his team was the difference. "We were taught a real good lesson in the first. We gave up way too much ice. Then we played as hard as we could for two periods. But needed to be smoother in the first. The other lesson was to be able to wind yourself up again after Thursdays win. Im not putting this one of our goalies. They were as good as the rest of our group."
