INDIANAPOLIS - IndyCar announced a multi-year agreement with Verizon on Friday that will make the telecommunications giant the title sponsor of the series. Isco Jersey . Verizon replaces former title sponsor Izod. Its sponsorship of what will now be known as the Verizon IndyCar Series launches with the March 30 season opening race. The partnership announced Friday includes network coverage upgrades to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as well as enhancements to IndyCars race control and new pit lane monitors. New York-based Verizon, the largest U.S. cellphone carrier, also plans to enhance connectivity for spectators at domestic races. "Verizon is delighted to become the title sponsor of the IndyCar series and to bring even more of our innovative technology to the fans, to the teams and to the entire motorsports community," said Dan Mead, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. "The intersection of racing and technology has never been more relevant, and our expanded partnership with INDYCAR provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate that synergy, integrate new services like LTE Multicast and help propel the sport forward." Verizon has been an "official partner" of IndyCar for the past four years, and is the primary sponsor of Will Powers car with Team Penske. Verizon will also sponsor Juan Pablo Montoya in at least eight races this year, and sponsor all three of Team Penskes cars at the inaugural road course race at Indianapolis. As part of the deal with IndyCar, Verizon will use its LTE Multicast solution at race tracks in the future. It will also complement the Verizon IndyCar 14 app and indycar.com, the series website. There was no other option. This wasnt the time to buckle. Not with his teammates, his coach, and frankly, all of Chicago counting on him. Once the rust came off, Cutler came through. Shaking off two first-half interceptions, Cutler threw three touchdown passes in his first start since Nov. 10, leading the Bears to a 38-31 win on Sunday over the Cleveland Browns. Cutler, who missed Chicagos previous four games with a sprained left ankle and reclaimed his starting job from Josh McCown earlier this week, threw a 4-yard TD pass to Earl Bennett with 5:41 left as the Bears (8-6) rallied in the second half and stayed in contention for an NFC playoff spot. Cutler finished 22 of 31 for 265 yards and validated first-year coach Marc Trestmans decision to stick with him over McCown, who had played so well while filling in for Chicagos starter. "The guys rallied around me," Cutler said. "Id be lying if I didnt say there was (pressure) with everything on the outside and as well as Josh has played. "Thats what I love about Jay, man. Doesnt matter the situation, hes going to be the same guy. Thats what I respect about him as a player, as a captain, but also as a friend." But as has been the case in recent weeks, Clevelands defence couldnt get the big stop when it needed one.
